HiFL® is more than just Football

Football has been said to have the power to bring people together, not minding the race, gender, culture or nationality. This has been clearly evident in the HiFL matches so far as students and fans have held nothing to the imagination with their support and cheers for their schools. The Passion was clearly shown even before the commencement of the games as conversations and battles that would later get solved on the pitch were had.

Trooping out en masse in their thousands to cheer their team on to victory, it has been an exciting experience for the fans so far cheering on each goal, dribble as well as near misses by their teams. The fans have shown their passion and support for their teams irrespective of the goals. From cheers to dances, to songs of victory, it has been a mind-blowing experience for the fans who have shared moments during the course of the games.

A moment that made hearts melt had Sani Bilyaminu of UNIPORT Sharks dripping with love and support from his Mother and sisters as he emerged Man of the Match. Now, that’s what HiFL is all about, passion, opportunities and moments.

The support so far in the games has shown that the Higher Institutions Football League (HiFL®) proudly sponsored by Stanbic IBTC is more than just football, it is a community that speaks hope, togetherness, and opportunity of a better and brighter future.

HiFL® is approved by the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) and endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The league is overseen by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Committee of Vice-Chancellors (CVC). The winner of this HIFL® 2018 season will represent Nigeria at the 2019 International University Sports Federation games in Naples, Italy.
