It is naturally difficult to establish many branches of baboon the south east due to the high rate of bank robberies in the region. I remember a period when Ecobank established a branch in Asa, Ukwa East, the bank was robbed several times and the manager was shot dead on duty, no bank will thrive in such conditions. Bullion vans are intercepted, welded open and money is carted away in broad day light. North East however does not have the economy to support many bank branches being the least economic developed region.

Enugu five years from 2010-2015 transactions from last CBN surpassed Ondo and Ekiti state combined, it's just Lagos, nation news should have publish state performance

I don't suppose to have a reply for a trabalist who will dispute every sound statistical information because it doesn't favour his place. Can you please list Ondo communities (not even Ekiti) with their bank branches and I will list the entire ones in Enugu for you.

There is no real stats about anything here in Nigeria. They spike stats to favour whatever they want to achieve. Most of the Banks publish fake returns in order to get more people to buy shares et al.

Well, Since southeast is business oriented, the monies rotate from one bank to another due to business deals etc. Majority of southwest are salary earners and therefore they might actually have static money in the banks with little movement except from basic withdrawals.

Everything to you is tribalism.
How many towns for example in Enugu State have bank branches?
Only Enugu town and suburbs like Agbani, 9th mile and then Nsukka and one branch of first bank in Orji River. The same prevalence in the entire region except in Anambra to some extent (there are still some large communities in Anambra you expect to find bank branch but maybe due to security challenges, you can't find one).
However in a place like Ondo or even Ekiti (not to talk about Osun, Oyo, Ogun, etc.) with hundreds of communities having bank branches. WEMA bank is virtually everywhere.

The current post is about the number of banks in Nigeria NOT how much was received or sent from kidnapping business in South East.
I'm sure if they release current deposit stat, south east will still be competing with war torned north east.

Ibadan alone has more banks than entire south east. Argue with your ancestor.

My friend learn to argue within context.

The discourse here is not about bank deposit or credit; it's about ease of banking ( bank access...). For example, each of 16 LGA in Ekiti has nothing less than 2 bank branches but in the entire Enugu, banks are concentrated in only the capital; what happens to the rest of the LGAs and the people residing there? It's easy to log in heavy money made from Malay... in the branches at the capital, that doesn't translate to someone in Ndeabor will easily make use of banking facilities.

If you have any brain at all, you won't be asking this.

South west generates more than half of igr in Nigeria. (Lagos alone generates the income of 30states put together)

South west contributes more 80% of non oil export to the gdp with Lagos becoming the 5th biggest economy in Africa.

With these indices, where do you think banks will likely situate their branches most? A dead state?

Scratch that, Oyo state is almost the same size as entire south east with more banks situated in the state capital which is ibadan.. what does this tell you?

Unless they want to send money to china then you see them with a lot of money in the bank. Even oil marketers in Aba, they only go to banks on Friday. Who is a petty trader? I was surprised when I served in the overhyped Rivers State also, the whole of Asalga, Delga and Akulga have no bank branches nor ATM. Corpers will have to to spend close to 1500 to travel to Choba or Abonema from Buguma just to withdraw their 19'800.
Same with most of their glorified villages and creeks called LGA, a whole 3 neighboring lga's without bank nor ATM.. tufiakwa.
There is no LGA in the west that you won't find at least a microfinance bank (worst case scenario). Even in huts and hamlets you go still find banks.
