Exactly ,it is good for idle funds but not the best in terms of returns. Imagine buying T bills 500k and you are paid upront profit of less than 20k because you bought it for three months. Investing it in a business that you know will be far from that 20k.

Business have a high risk you know.... How about you get scammed, run at a loss, lost your good, capital risk... There are lot of businesses risk

How do i go about this?
jolyment:
Investment in real business is better than T bills in terms of returns. Rice farming with 150naira can generate 1m naira in 3 months. My rice farming is doing well now and my prayer is that herdsmen will not attack the farm. No risk no money.

Please house, if I bought TB at 13% and I didn't wait until maturity before selling in the secondary market at 11% .. would I make a profit from the low rate?
Considering I sold about 50 days to maturity for a dull tenor(364) days..
Do you have the fund to buy at primary market? 50million and above

No Sir, but I thought any amount above 100k is good?
My initial qtn lies in how the interest made when sold in the sec. market at a discounted rate are calculated?

You don't need buy in primary market and sell in secondary market. Primary is for heavy investors 50m and above . but because many people who want to invest in TB may not have such amount, that was why government through CBN make provision for secondary market , to enable people that have below 50m to invest on TB. it's CBN that's handle both primary and secondary market not individual .

Treasury bills are short term debt instruments which is issued by government like Nigerian government through CBN to control money supply, it also doesn't yield interest, it is also used to control money supply in the economy.

With due respect sir. you have a false assertion about the regulators. it CBN that regulate money market while Security and exchange commission regulate capital market(where you find the primary and secondary market).

It is the CBN that sells treasury bills to investors via secondary and primary market, not SEC.

While the primary market happens twice a month, the secondary market happens sometimes once or twice a week and in some cases, not at all.

That was not the point you raised earlier on. CBN is just an institution /platform in which GOVT securities can be traded but, the main regulators of capital market is SEC.
Hope you get that?
