The minimum is actually N50m when buying via PMA, but banks pull funds from different clients to make up that amount. As a result, even if someone has 100,000, the banks will collect and add to others to bid as a whole. The minimum used to be N10,000 mainaugustine: 1 Like |

I plan to buy treasury bills at the end of the month, is it wise to still go ahead and how do I do it? |
Re: CBN Sells N187b T-bills In One Week As Lending Rate Falls by Nobody: 9:37am On Aug 19, 2018 |
SarakiBukola:Treasury bill is fixed for the period it carries. So you already know what you would earn from the day you bought till maturity. You can gain from treasury bill in two ways: 1.from the interest rate on the bill(11% in this case, so if you invest 2m, your interest will be 0.11*2m divided by 12 months(if its one year) 2.from reinvestment of proceeds at a lower amount. So, you will gain because the interest on the Treasury bill is fixed unlike shares. If you have enough money like 5m, pls tell your broker to help you buy 5m worth of TB. It is a lucrative one. |

AgamaProf:But CBN said that interest rate will soon be increased, they are trying to curb too much money in circulation to reduce further inflation, so what I'm saying in ernest is that cost of borrowing will be going up soon due to election and to curb looming inflation. 1 Like |

Colourich:Thank you for the replies @jolyment and colourich.. with a principal of 1M at 13% for 364days, To break it down, i would gain 13%* 1000000=N130,000 as interest.. On selling 50 days to end of tenor, that interest will be reduced by 130,000*50/364=N17,857.14.. Meaning I would be left with=N112,142.857(excluding transaction charges). My qtn is, where does the extra interest come in by selling at 11% in the secondary market? Thank you.. Other experts can assist me on this, thank you. |
