That's probably because this vehicle does not appear to ever have been exported to or registered in the US or Canada.

This appears to be a Japanese origin 2001 Honda Civic LXI 5MT, registered and used in Asia for a time.

It would be tricky, obtaining any reliable history records for this vehicle, primarily because of the part of the world it was used in. Not impossible, just may cost much more than you'd be willing to part with for a history report.

Oh okay, I see.

That explains it then. Thanks for ur time and effort. I appreciate

At this point it would take an event as radical as a Nissan GT-R transforming into an apache helicopter to elicit disbelief from me.

2nd or 3rd buyer maybe grin grin
Customs paper should tell you the truth

Under 50k mileage is still possible.. Nigerian don't drive "big engine" trucks alot...
Corolla & Camry as daily driver for normal running arounds then big trucks for village or party grin

Well, you wanted proof that VIN tampering was been done in Nigeria and I've gotten you one..... Despite it compromises my security as a agent but only God knows Wetin go kill man.... This is a Range Rover with what we call " body editing " at the border....... A SUV with two VINS on it, the other VIN that came with it will be removed once the defects have been rectified and vehicle is about to be delivered..... Car dealers mostly do it now to beat your VIN checks......will get the altered VIN tomorrow cos the importer wants to loan me make I use am do big boy for ileya.... In my haste not to let him know that I was copying the other VIN under the windshield, I couldn't snap it properly...

That's not entirely accurate. Go to the first page of this thread. Check my other thread. I'm well aware it happens, as I described on both threads. Your input is quite welcome though.

This is what they, and apparently you, don't seem to understand:

A VIN is not a random number.

You simply cannot just make up random alphanumeric characters and present as a VIN. Each character there has a specific significance, and is related to the other characters in the VIN

This VIN tampering you've described here would actually not "beat your VIN checks".

The original VIN of the Range Rover,

SALSF25476A930973

Specifically matches US/North American Range Rovers, and it's actually quite easy to validate any VIN for any vehicle from North America.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/7605370_screenshot20180820195545chrome_jpeg8ae0609ff79d2d1824b43e01a69938e6

This counterfeit/forged VIN,

SALSF25476A569801

Is invalid, and would not show up on any range rover VIN database anywhere on the planet.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/7605371_screenshot20180820195509chrome_jpeg069090a69dd51c849e65e3c95f909bdd

What do you think would happen when the client forwards this forged VIN to a platform for a history report for a vehicle originating in North America, and the VIN itself comes back as non-existent?

Red Flag

Simply put, for a North American - origin vehicle, the total absence of any history of any sort, is an even bigger red flag than a salvaged or damaged history.

As far as I'm concerned, no discerning buyer would fall for this.

I would like to assume that anyone who's going to shell out the bucks for a Range would at least do some due diligence.
