there are few wise athletes who are investing.its mostly the foolish ones who squander their earnings on parties and women. Even our footballers..a number of them have private businesses.

African mentality, I've seen a 47yr old Airport shuttle driver (drives a Big for nothing Camry) and spends like no tomorrow anytime Ego lands. Using his money to fix tiles &,AC in a rented apartment but to buy land na tabooo for am, all lands na Bush, We have so many like that; they r not useless but useful as a lesson to others! Tennis stars don't really earn much in prize money but through sponsorship and endorsement deals. If he wasn't the marketable type then I wouldn't be surprised he had less lucrative deals..but to go broke to this extent, then only he knows what he did with his money(women, bad/no investment or just bad luck)

Please say the one you know. Apart from Ronaldo and Messi other footballers don't earn as much as Nada, Federer and Djokovic. Check how much they mKe alone from prize money.

Life can deal one a cruel blow, except a careful and sensible decision is taking at important juncture of the person's life.

This can be seen at a point in time when the person achieved a reasonable success. Usually better life and enjoyments which requires extraordinary expenditures will entice this person. If he is wise, he will not follow the temptation to spend more. Rather he will invest. But, if he goes with the enticement, he would be living in the present and spending his future means of livelihood.

A good number of Celebrities fall into this man's shoes.

Poverty is a mental state. It has nothing to do with your resources, so Nigerians take note. It has nothing to do with your skill set as this player was poor during his successful tennis career and remains poor now. It has nothing to do with your mental acumen. There are professors who cannot comfortably afford a decent lifestyle. It has nothing to do with your religious affiliation with God as there was once a righteous poor man who died and went to heaven. There are many in the Kingdom struggling to make ends meet.

It has all to do with your mental disposition towards the resources every man will be tried with at one time or the other during his or her life time. As the famous analogy of sharing the wealth of the world equally amongst all its inhabitants. Time proves wealth or poverty and after a time the resources will return to something looking like the way it is today.

The big question is: what are you doing with the little you have today. It will determine your tomorrow and define your life.

I am not saying that you shouldn't invest, but thinking that investment is an answer to everything is silly. I know people who invested wisely but they are still broke today. When you hit hard times, even your investments might not be enough. In addition, no investment is recession proof either. Just keep praying that God keeps your head above water.
