It's very difficult to win a powerful man, because most of the institutions in the state are built around him traditional, religious, government, cultural etc.

Probably 70% of traditional rulers, chairmen of LG, 70% of top government agencies chiefs, most of even the government workers are very loyal to him.
Even with Obasanjo, the famous tyrant, Lagos was still in hands of Tinubu.

In 2019, everybody will face his business as there will be too much activities, an APC governor can work for a PDP Senator if he discover that that Senator can deliver his senatorial district to him.

If Saraki will loose Kwara, it won't be in a general election or in 2019

u are right but I was looking at the bigger picture, saraki has had this things (kwara) even begotted to him by his father but it was always about the presidency as goal.

He may definetly keep having kwara and senate seat but if this plan doesn't work for PDP to take fg then their may be a dent on that dream as the core northerners believes he can sell out anytime .

You know north west is primary considered the heart of north followed by northeast, north central is used as an advantage geographically but they don't really allow them rule them.

So the fact that saraki is half north and half Yoruba is always a factor, I believe he didn't really want to leave APC as his statement indicated he was compelled to, he really wanted to use the duality of his identity under a majority Hausa Yoruba platform.

You can attest that the west is claiming he is now traitor while the north (northwest, and northeast) doesn't see him as that person that core northernern that can be trusted to KEEP THE NORTHERN INTEREST as they always do.


This is a dilemma that can hang around him throughout his career if it fails but if PDP wins he would really have it good as a new face of northern politics, it would catapult his base from kwara to the northwest and northeast.

You're very correct, I don't see Saraki doing anything meaningful out of his territory, his only base is Kwara, and he has never attempted to even work beyond it.
I believe he's then kind of live and let's live kind of guy, he's a liberal and it has shown clearly, because if you look at Kwara state, you'll hardly hear of any rancor within his camp or the party he's in charge, unlike in Lagos where there are always problems and battles here and there.

For me, Saraki is contented with his Kwara and no matter where he goes to, he can only get more powers in the federal but not to the extent of controlling a region, North don't see him as northerner and West don't see him as a westerner also, even during the days of PDP.

He's not also a religious and ethnic bigot, that's what northerners love, they want someone who'll always work for their interests, and Saraki is not thst kind, infact, his wife is a Christian, that's one of the problems, Atiku is also having in North.

If I were him, I'll go back to the senate and maintain a stateman mode like David mark, then still controls my Kwara, help one two political associates in other states if I can and just be happy.

yea but it has always been about been president even from his father's, he was a kid that has seen power play and politicians right from a little boy and I believe he can never be contented with kwara alone, his ego has long grown beyond it.

Same ego pushed him go for SP against his party thinking no 3 was the easiest route.

That guy really had a complete balance actually going for him then in apc due to his identity he could get southwest under apc, been at least an average northern he could get northern block coupled with an apc appeal advantage.

He could have easily gotten east and south south because he doesn't really have the average northern bigotry (which northerners consider as northern interest).

That same identity can escalate competly if you take a wrong turn when you are everywhere but nowhere.


He could have enjoyed his senate seat and just observe, probably run with osinbajo as vp and takeover from him.

Yet again this is just apc compass for looking at things, maybe he saw another compass and considered he really wanted the presidency urgently

I will disagree with you, ego didn't make him contest for senate presidency, against his party, his party only exhibited double standard on the issue

1. Tinubu had nominated Vice president, and Aslo wanted to nominate speaker and senate president.

2. During the APC shadow election, they opted for secret ballot which Gbajabiamila won, but wanted to change the rule during the senate, and wanted open ballot because they know that Saraki might win, and they decided to stage a walk out

If am in his shoes I'll do the same thing, it was injustice that made them leave PDP.

Even though any politician would want to expand their tentacles, I don't believe that Saraki want to go beyond Kwara state.
If he wanted, he would have started it during his term as governor where he rose to become the NGF chairman

And I'll not agree that he has everything going on good for him in APC, I think Tinubu was bent on pushing him out after Saraki worked against his interest when he wanted VP. since then he has done everything in his power to frustrate him.

They charged him for forging senate rules, they charged him for false asset declaration that could have resulted in a ban of up to 10yrs, they are currently trying to implicate him for arm robbery, not forgetting all the media insults and all.

A party donated huge money, sweat and structure to,, do you expect that they'll allow him control south west or any of Northern regions? Even the north central, he's not controlling.
