Shame!, from this midget,
If a so called man of God could be so compromised to this extent, then bliv me we are a very deep sh*t in this country,
Because any "messiah" that enters there gets compromised too.

And come to think Of it.. Nigeria is over 57yrs and up till now we still haven't found that messiah , THEN THERE IS NO MESSIAH!!.

I BLAME LUGGARD FOR MIXING UP THIS TOXIC MIXTURE IN THE FIRST PLACE

From the British crown to its many foot soldiers in colonial Africa, all are heavily responsible for this disgusting contraption call “Nigeria”.

We are not one. Not in the slightest bit.

What business does the fura da nunu drinking Hausa man in the desert have with the fufu eating Igbo man in the rainforest region.

I keep asking this to the “one Nigeria” chanters. But none has given a satisfying answer.

Nigeria is nothing but a collection of tribes that were forcefully brought together to satisfy the greed of the British for mineral and antural resources.

The only way to keep this disgusting contraption called Nigeria held together is restructuring, else we all go our separate ways.

Anyone shouting one Nigeria is either not aware of his/her history and greediness of the political class or is definitely benefitting from the current forced alamagation.

So, we have to work our port system and one of the things we have been able to do is what we call the National Trading Platform or the single window. We are getting to the point where we are going to launch the national trading platform where the whole port system is integrated into one.”
A conflict of interest when compared against earlier disclosure to get states more control over their resources.

Lagos is building ports in Badagry and Epe as a resource for commercial activities. Why should it be nationalized in a multi-ethnic nation where ethnic politics is the default?

Is that agreeable with the principles and ethos of democracy?

metronaija4:
In contrast to simple geographical restructuring of the country, prudent management of national resources and providing for the people properly, are better ideas for Nigeria’s development challenges, according to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.

Prof. Osinbajo who stated this while fielding questions from a cross-section of Nigerians at a town hall meeting in Minnesota, the United States of America on Sunday, spoke on a wide range of issues covering the economy, anti-corruption, health, agriculture among others.

According to the Vice President, “the problem with our country is not a matter of restructuring and we must not allow ourselves to be drawn into the argument that our problems stem from some geographical restructuring. It is about managing resources properly and providing for the people properly, that is what it is all about.”

“I served for eight years as Attorney General in Lagos State and one of the chief issues that we fought for in Lagos state was what you call fiscal federalism. We felt that there was a need for the states to be stronger, for states to more or less determine their fortunes.

“So, for example, we went to court to contest the idea that every state should control, to a certain extent, its own resources (the so-called resource control debate). We were in court at that time up to the Supreme Court and the court ruled that oil-producing states should continue to get 13% derivation.

“While we were at the Supreme Court only the oil-producing states and Lagos were interested in resource control, everybody else was not interested in resource control for obvious reasons. Now, that is the way the argument has always gone, those who have the resources want to take all of it, while those who do not have want to share from others.”

Continuing, Prof. Osinbajo said, “My view is that we must create the environment that allows for people to realise themselves economically because that truly is what the challenge is with our country.”

The Vice President added that Buhari-led Federal Government has put in place an economic structure that is able to function properly despite previous challenges, particularly corruption that led to a slowdown in the economy.

On the impact of corruption on the economy and the solution adopted by the Buhari administration, Prof. Osinbajo noted that “Unless we are able to deal with the fundamental questions especially around corruption, our economic circumstance will keep going one step forward, two steps backwards”.

According to him, “When you talk about corruption in Nigeria, the truth is stranger than fiction. It is the kind of thing that would cripple an economy anywhere because you simply don’t have the resources for the graft and the greed of the numbers of people who want to steal the resources.

“All that we have been able to deal with is grand corruption. When we started the TSA, the whole point was to aggregate all of the funds of government that were in private banks. So we put all of the money in the central bank so that we could at least see the movement of money and by doing so, we were able to save 50% of the corruption that was going on then.”

He assured Nigerians in the US that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari could be trusted, noting that “we can say for sure that the President is not going to sign off money and just bring it out to share.”

Relying on OPEC statistics on oil revenues accruable to Nigeria under successive administrations between 1990 and 2014, the Vice President said not much had been done in terms of infrastructure development despite the huge oil revenues realized by the country.

According to him, “Under the IBB / Abacha administrations (1990 – 1998) Nigeria realized$199.8 billion; under the Obasanjo / Yar’Adua governments (1999 – 2009), the country got $401.1 billion; and during the Jonathan administration (2010 – 2014), Nigeria got $381.9 billion from oil revenues.”

“The question that we must all ask is that what exactly happened to resources? The question that I asked is that where is the infrastructure.

“One of the critical things that we must bear in mind and see is that this government despite earning $94 billion, up until 2017, we are spending more on infrastructure and capital than any previous government, so we are spending N1.5 trillion on capital, that is the highest we have spent since 1990,” he added.

Responding to concerns on how government is utilizing recovered funds, the Vice President disclosed that the Buhari administration is committed to a transparent use of the funds in providing infrastructure.

He said: “What we are doing with the proceeds of corruption is by making it a line in the budget so that it can be accounted for properly; it is not a special fund somewhere that is just being used in any way, but as a single line in the budget for infrastructure which is our major spend.”

In the area of agriculture, Prof. Osinbajo said, the target was to attain self-sufficiency in the production of rice, tomato etc.

According to him, “We are doing a lot of work in agriculture. Take rice, for instance, we are doing a lot in rice production and we have increased local production such that we are no longer spending $5 million daily on rice import.

“Today, we are doing 11 million metric tons of paddy rice and are now importing only 2 per cent of what we used to import.”

On Nigeria’s rise on the World Bank’s ease of doing business index, Prof. Osinbajo said though the challenges are daunting, the government was committed to going beyond the 24 places it moved up to in the last rankings.

The Vice President added that reforming Nigeria’s port system was top on the agenda of government as
efforts were underway to improve the turnaround time for cargo clearance at the ports.

According to him, “If you look at the port issue, for example, we must be able to clear our port system; people must be able to import and export their goods in hours not weeks and months.

“So, we have to work our port system and one of the things we have been able to do is what we call the National Trading Platform or the single window. We are getting to the point where we are going to launch the national trading platform where the whole port system is integrated into one.”

On improving the health budget at both the state and federal levels, the Vice President said the focus is on trying to do National Health Insurance because funding health care through budgeting has proved to be practically impossible.

According to him, “We simply do not have the resources, the states and Federal Government cannot do enough. So, the National Health Insurance is a very basic part of it and we are currently working now with the World Bank and with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to establish a proper National Health Insurance Scheme.”

Nigeria’s Ambassador to the U.S., Mr Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor led other Nigerians within and outside the state of Minnesota to the meeting held in Minneapolis.

Only fools do the same thing over and over again in other to expect a different result. Restructuring, adaptation & changes are all part of human evolution. The current 36 states of the federation were restructured from 12 states they used to be to their current status. Although we restructured from those 12 states into 36 states of big government spending & poverty entrapment and is going to take restructuring to get the country out of poverty entrapment into the 21th century of progress and transformation. Those opposing restructured Nigeria are the ones benefiting from her wows. Osibanjo understands better but he is only towing the path of his boss.

We've come a long way together as a country to split now. So many ties will have to be severed, the price of some products especially agricultural produce that we do take for granted in the market would skyrocket, their is going to be increased chance of what one can call "hereditary dictatorship" as we have in North Korea, In fact, before you know it, the so called depraved regions will start trooping in as armed bandits perching heavily on the so called blessed, remember, we landlocked... The prospects of bad bad bad evuls cannot be overemphasized.. Well, it's easy to say things as let's split nothing will happen under the influence chill Trophy beer over catfish peppersoup.

Baba kekere got it wrong this time, but he's where he needs to be as part of the govt, let others take care of the restructuring talks. Countries break up all the time when parties feel disadvantaged and have nothing in common. We can separate and still be good neighbors. Yoruba are held down by Nigeria. Considering where Yorubaland was when we had our separate region, we should have been like Singapore now, instead we are lumped with people who have different cultures and values.

Truth be told, Nigerians have not tried whatever system we are practicing according to purpose instead we expect that every thing will fall into place without the practitioners of the system acting according to script. You can not be stealing and mismanaging what you have and be shouting restructuring as if it can address being a thief and wasting the small resources you have. Resources must first be utilized properly before the underlying systemic issues can be addressed. Once again PYO has rendered political jobbers who rely on noise making irrelevant.
Whenever this issue of restructuring comes up people often say it's not restructuring that we need but change in our attitude. I feel that kind of talk is very unrealistic if not naive. When? How do we change our attitudes? It's like waiting for godot.
In my office, there are cameras everywhere. Nobody needs to start preaching to you 'don't steal'. Your integrity, personal rectitude or otherwise doesn't matter. It doesn't matter whether you are a thief or not. The system checkmates you.

This current atmosphere of corruption thrives because of the current structure. A state government can have bloated number of special assistants, advisers, PA's etc because money will come from the centre. Restructure and see if that would be possible. At a psychological level, if we restructure, because of the competitiveness it would bring no be person go tell a particular region to stop corruption when it becomes obvious that that can drag the region back while other regions make progress.

We will restructure. It's just a matter of time. If we don't this system will collapse by the weight of its own contradictions.

We cannot afford to wait for a change in attitudes, we should rather restructure and let the constituent units be stronger than the centre.

As much academic accomplishments we have earned to our credits, we suffer from ethnocentric comforts. Even academia is ethnically biased. We have an institute of policy and strategic studies NIPPS, and almost all of our leaders, democratic or military, have attended courses there. Foreigners have attended courses here and took the lessons back home to shape and improve their societies. We ought to have an intellectually driven discourse facilitated by NIPPS to ascertain where we started, where we are, do comparison studies of those at our peerage 50yrs ago and how we compare with them now. Explain reasons for our retardation and propose ways forward.

Because of ethnic politics and internal conflicts NIPPS have been reduced to nothing more than a diploma awarding institute. The strategy and policy spirit is gone.

May I say, for those who do not know, that the idea for NIPPS was taken from AG. Yes, Action Group, Awo's party had a group of intellectuals in University of Ibadan that was a think tank for Western Government. They churned out stratagem and ideas for political, economic and social evolution in West. This is how the Awo Doctrines for Socialism came about. It worked excellently well to advance Western Nigeria ahead of other regions in Nigeria and even ahead of other countries of Africa.

We should take the question restructuring to NIPPS to produce for us a template for true federalism in Nigeria. If its incapable then we should have a special election and put restructuring on ballot to address this national question.

Ethnocentric what? My friend even EUROPE is a tribal land, and becoming more tribal by the hour because they know having Scotland-North Korea-and Saudi Arabia in one nation will NEVER work, no matter how much grammer you speak. SOme people know the truth but because of FEAR, Jealousy, and Greed, they come up with propaganda strategy to promote the destruction of everyone in the long run. How can you claim resources are now better managed when poverty has increased.
Oga why do you repeating the same thing like a broken record. Yea, restructuring is OK. People will be able to develop at their pace. The fundamental problem still remain the corrupt managers of our resources. Can you ask yourself why is there poverty and unemployment in a state like bayelsa considering the size and population and the amount accrued to the state every month. What if Delta, akwa ibom and even river state. With the way we unpatriotic ally manage ourselves, restructuring can hardly solve our problems.

It is matter of fishing out those who because of their excessive greediness, have refused to allow the proper management of the nation's resources, it is a matter of replacing those at the helm of the country's resource management with those who exhibit transparency and integrity. You are spot on regarding AG cos my boss then used to eulogise Awo on the basis of the fact that he surrounded him with the intelligentsia. Today there's no intelligence in Government.

I really feel that it's a loss to this country that politicians govern us. Politicians should be our gate men, drivers, houseboys, barbers etc instead they are the ones governing us.
Leadership, that's the most crucial thing, not politics. Nigeria is the only country where the worst lead the best. And that is why we are not making progress.

Check out those brilliant Igbo girls who beat others from all over the world. Aren't they the ones who should be groomed to provide leadership in the tech industry? Instead one Mallam who read public administration would be made the CEO of NCC.

I'm not Igbo. I'm just using that as an example. Intelligence is scattered throughout Nigeria. The boy who topped the charts in the jamb exams is from Borno. These are the people who should be groomed and given the mantle of leadership.

I was told that in Finland it requires rigorous training to qualify as a teacher. What happens here? Teaching in Nigeria is for those who have no other option.

In the ancient world, the sons of the royalty were deliberately groomed for leadership - they were taught history, philosophy, the science of speech (rhetorics), the art of governance, diplomacy, economics, architecture etc. Thus Philip of Macedonia had to bring Aristotle from Greece over to Macedonia to tutor the young Alexander who became a great leader and an unrivalled military genius.

Intelligence must be applied to governance. Let the best rule.

Somethings prices (maybe even heavy prices) need to be paid for the greater good of the present and future generations.

From the look of things in Nigeria, where the political class has no political ideology (but to seize power at all cost) hence the jumping from one party to the other, can you confidently tell me that the future of the third generation from now is bright??

Please say smtin to me that would convince me that we need to keep this shitshow called Nigeria going.

We weren't one, before he British came, the political class who fought for independence (Ahmadu Bello, Azikiwe, Balewa, et al) did it for their own personal gains.

And it has continued like that to this very minute.

I do not buy the excuse that prices of commodities would skyrocket because we split. Is that what happens in every country that splits. Did it happen in Czechoslovakia, Korea or Sudan.

There are no ties among Nigerians and there never would be but for the ones between the political class who keep stealing their people blind.

There is already hereditary democracy in Nigeria, look very closely you would see it.

So oga, it is best we go back to the status quo as in how we were as in pre colonial Nigeria or we keep decieving ourselves for the next half century that we are one.
