The incident I am about to share is a true life story and one in which I was a direct witness. This incident has been bothering me since it happened but I have managed to keep it a secret until now.

I feel like an accomplice to evil machinations and my conscience remains hugely troubled as a result of this, hence my speaking out in this form.

I'd be hiding the names and locations of course.

The story...

I had become acquainted with someone who had lived in North America for about two decades until he returned back to Nigeria setting up a hotel and some block of tenement flats in a cluster which he manages albeit very unprofessionally because he had chosen to go it by himself for lack of trust for anyone else to help him manage his stuff.

With his lack of the required management acumen for these investments, it was obviously not a surprise for the discerning why the businesses weren't doing as well as it should be doing and in comparison to his immediate competitors.

In the course of his trying to find a way out from this lacuna, a customer who had been amazed by the edifice he had on the ground and how his hotel was almost always like a graveyard had suggested he went spiritual because he was sure the problems were such.

This acquaintance believes he is being disturbed even before the customer's suggestion and was quick to naturally buy into the hogwash.

He pleaded with me to accompany him to a place he had been directed to, to see a baba. Not knowing how I would turn down an acquaintance who was in dire need of a solution to his business even though I am not one who believes in fetishes, I had acceded to his request and went with him. After all what are pseudo-friends for, so I'd thought.

When we got to Baba's place, he had made his supplications known and baba did whatever he had to do and handed him two pots bonded all around in a wool like thread and off we departed from baba's court.

Baba's instruction to him was to bury one of the pots at the entrance to his hotel at about 12 am and the other at his tenement block of flats.

He had pleaded with me yet again to do the night at his hotel so I could help wake him up for the ritual to be carried out with I did. According to baba, he has to do it all by himself. So he had dug out the ground and buried the pot at the centre of his gate slots and cemented it up.

The next morning it was time to go do same at his tenement house, so we had proceeded and did same this time at the back of the building without any of the tenants knowing any better. My job was to stand guard as a lookout and alerted him if there was anyone approaching.

The sad part of all these is that months or years down the line and after this ritual, I am heavily troubled and stuck in guilt as I feel culpable actively/passively in whatever the hotel patrons or tenants of the house might have to deal with as a result of this evil.

Some people might want to know why I'd agree to accompany this acquaintance on this mission despite my belief, faith and all that I stand for which are wholesomely contrary to this.

I'd give an update to this story and the reason why I couldn't avoid being a part of this conundrum.

I once lived in a jazzed house. Though I kinda suspected but the house looked and felt comfy. After a second miscarriage that dealt severely with me, I suddenly realized that none of the wives there had a child.
After much prayers and Midnight's, I dreamt a crippled man was urinating all over the house. We prayed and anointed the whole place. I also saw a bat in the house,which i killed wit anger. That same evening,we all received quit notices. I hardly know the Landlord as the agent did a great job.
I inquired of the landlord,only to hear he was a cripple and also had no child. Meanwhile u dared not owe a day, but as soon as our rent expired, I conceived.
Sorry for digressing but I feel if a house is jazzed, it certainly can cause the tenants harm.

Now in an ideal world and circumstance, judging from how visiting a Voodoo man isn't my cup of tea, I would have been expected to advise this individual against the line he had chosen to tow in search of a way to boost his business.

To enable you guys to understand how I was incapable of talking Mr out of his planned move I'd love to give a Lil background into his personality.

Mr, as I pointed out had lived in North America for about two decades (you'd never know until he mentions)and decided to set up these businesses and settling back in Nigeria to tend to them himself, which in my opinion was a great and smart move.

However, Mr has got a huge problem with trusting anyone else aside himself, not his staffs absolutely no one. It is thus to this end that Mr, who owns this almost 2 million dollar hotel would run the laundries himself, go to the market for grocery shopping for the kitchen himself, buys drinks for the bar himself. To crown it all up, Mr would eat from a local Buka and not from his hotel kitchen. These might sound like a made up story but guys trust me I have got nothing and absolutely nothing to benefit or lose from telling this tale. It is a whole truth and an issue I see on a daily. A guest could order for noodles and the kitchen had run out of it, the cook will come to oga and mention before he'd give them money to buy the two packs of noodle and eggs down the road.

I also noticed that workers hardly did more than tops 2 months at his before they jumped shipped which I think was one of the fundamental reasons his business isn't running at full capacity until I began to piece together his personality from our conversations and how he relates with everyone around him. From reading and researches, I came upon the mental condition (Narcissistic Personality Disorder), so I read up on it and true to the letter, every single symptom or characteristics someone with this condition exhibits was exactly what I see from this individual every time we meet or converse. You can google the condition NPD to get an idea.

This acquaintance believes he is the beginning and end of knowledge which he duly showcases most times when we are in a discussion. If you have a contrary view to his or argues against him, he'd resort to name callings. So it is usual to allow him to wallow in his warped belief and knowledge for peace-sake.

From the above, you'd understand how and why it would have been a lost case talking him against his planned move.

This case hangs on my neck like an albatross and every time I remember it like I did today, guilt and regret take the better of me and I can't help but feel sorry for the innocent patrons that'd end up getting muddled up in something they know nothing about.

I just thought to let this out as an eye-opener to you guys and also to join me in praying for my error of judgement and commission.

Yeah, I've thought about my personal safety, but keeping and dealing with the thoughts of this incident could kill me too.

As per the tenants, I do not know what their personal circumstances are.

The reason he actually resorted to this voodoo thing as it relates to his tenement apartments was that, of the twelve blocks available, at certain times just three or four would be occupied, and then it would be a struggle to get rent from these tenants as at when due. In my layman view to why the blocks would be vacant for times at a stretch was the outrageous amount he was asking as compared to other houses in the same neighbourhood.

Did I mention that he was his own agent and puts up to let himself and other stuff?

In fact the story funny and tire me.

I see no difference my brother. I know for a sure that mismanagement was the case but he keeps living in denial.

Here is my advice: for the uptenth time, call him and explain your reasoning about his business yo him. In fact, you could ask him to see you off to speak with a business development consultant you paid for just so he would hear from a third party. If situation remains the same, then just leave him be...he's one of those money has missed road to.
