2019: Fresh Crisis Rocks APC, Officials Accused Of Planning ‘illegal Meeting’ by AllTheWayUp: 12:51pm On Sep 02, 2018 |
The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to an illegal meeting scheduled to hold on Sunday at Transcorp Hilton hotel in Abuja by some members of our Party organs, with a view to fault the decisions made by the NWC followed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) as regards the mode of the Party’s primary elections. We want to state clearly that the meeting which has been fixed for 2pm is illegal and an attempt to puncture the sincere efforts being made by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led NWC to reposition our Party ahead the 2019 General Elections and to ensure unity, equity and justice in the Party. The outcome of such meeting which is already known will be a nullity and we admonish our members to disregard such meetings in the interest of the Party. It is illegal to call such meetings outside the purview of the constituted authority. Nigeria’s ruling party (APC) has raised alarm by some of its officials to hold an “illegal meeting” on Sunday. The APC stated this in a statement by its spokesperson, Yekini Nabena. The party said the illegal meeting is “with a view to fault the decisions made by the NWC followed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) as regards the mode of the Party’s primary elections.” The APC last week held its NEC meeting which was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. One of the major resolutions of the NEC meeting was that the party would adopt direct primaries for its presidential ticket while state chapters would decide whether or not to utilise direct or indirect primaries for other tickets. Direct primaries involve all members of the party voting to elect candidates while indirect primaries involves delegates doing the election. It is not clear if that decision was the issue to be discussed at the Sunday meeting. “The identities of those plotting such meetings have been identified and unless they desist from such they will be dealt with in line with the party’s constitution at the appropriate time,” the APC spokesperson said. The identities of those plotting such meetings have been identified and unless they desist from such they will be dealt with in line with the Party’s Constitution at the appropriate time. The NWC will resist any attempt to disrupt the current peace and harmony prevailing in our great Party after the exit of some members of our Party. We urge any member who is not satisfied with the decisions of the Party to utillise channels provided by the Party’s constitution to air their views. We remain focused in delivering good governance to Nigerians and above all ensuring the victory for our Party come 2019 and we will not be intimidated by the antics of a few in ensuring success for our Party. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/282234-2019-fresh-crisis-rocks-apc-officials-accused-of-planning-illegal-meeting.html 3 Likes

It could be that some people are about to defect and need to create a division at the National Level to justify such move. Today is Sunday already. The picture will get clearer by evening provided the meeting isn't disrupted under the guise of 'National Security' by some hooded and overzealous security agents Comrade Chairman is about to get busier. 2 Likes |

Why are APC governors scared of the proposed direct primary? What exactly is wrong with party members choosing the aspirant of their choice for all elective positions? Why are they hellbent on frustrating this noble introduction that can help deepen our democracy? Hopefully, Asiwaju and Oshiomole will stand their ground and push this to a logical conclusion. The time to abolish the evil indirect delegate system is now. Power must go back to ordinary party folks. 13 Likes 1 Share |

Since Apc came into power, the term "Faction" became a norm. There is nothing in Nigeria today that doesn't have faction. presidency, senate, parties, Nlc, Nuppeng, ASUU, sug, etc. Andits affecting their party, there are several factions in Apc today. There's the Governor's factions, Tinubu's faction, Amaechi's Abuja Faction, the pro-Saraki faction, Abuja faction, the cabal etc 1 Like |
