The biggest representative of Africa and blacks fly around the world begging for funds. Is this something to cheer about? They take loans from the Chinese. They sign the contracts with Chinese companies to build. The Chinese companies build and get paid by the Chinese banks. In all, the money never leaves China but Nigeria is on the hook for the loan. A beggar has no choice and Due Process is flung out of the window. What is in it to rejoice about? Africa has all the minerals for self-sufficiency but don't know how to harness resources and manpower to be affluent. Let me see how Africa will borrow her way to greatness.

Take a closer look at how much the Nigerian government use to service her foreign loans annually. The amount is very staggering and they keep borrowing. Oh well...

/
Nice analysis, you need to read the book titled ' the economic hitman ' to understand more of how this exploitation works. that's why they always try to install dumb leaders in Africa. the type of leaders always intimidated by the very presence of a white man and would do everything to have a picture taken with a white fellow. list it as an achievement and even display the picture on giant billboards around the capital.

Nigerians are cheering their leaders. They should take a cue from Venezuela and Turkey. When the creditors cook up stories to hit Nigeria, will the people be able to live with naira at N1000 per US dollar?

Comprehension is always a problem with you boys and all but no thanks to "type without reasoning" syndrome. I said this administration has funded most of the MOU s signed by the previous administration. I never said this administration has not funded its own personally initiated project. Tell me one project they have initiated and haven't funded. MOUs are always the Genesis of every project and that is what they did. So until we can't see the execution as against the scheduled time drafted for the project, you should hold your peace. All you know how to do is prophesy doom. And when I say administration, it is a collective noun not party based. You need to reformat your thinking and mindset boy.

Tell me a project they've initiated.. Not just funded. When the roll was called for people to name projects the administration have started, where were you?

Trust me, I won't stoop low to spew insults.

Its 3 years plus, tell me a project they've initiated and completed. In fact, tell me the projects they've initiated take this as a challenge maybe this will clear your mind.

The past fools in power did 12 universities, several roads, several almajiri schools, dams, power stations etc all in 4 years. Now, list any project initiated by the current administration please. Apart from loans and media propagated corruption trump cards, list the projects-i frastructure projects they've initiated

I can bet my life...there will be action. It is in China's interest to have a deep water port in Nigeria....1. to in erase their exports to Nigeria and beyond and ....2. to ship raw materials in larger volumes back to China. At the end of the day...do I have to say who is going to control the port?
Well done?...how is Edo/Nigeria going to benefit? ..will they be taxed?/what concessions were they given?
All these agreements.....politicians never go to make market for Nigerian products...never go to get modern equipment and training of our youths to operate them...but always be going to sign MoU set out by China. We are really moving forward...really?
When the benefits start trickling in Igbo will be wailing.

All APC know how to do is deceive the Mass using the media as a vital instrument. Believe this news at you own risk.
Unfortunately that is why some of you guys are a lot worse than the politicians you seek to deride. Obaseki is seeking to get investment to build Edo port, that is a problem to you? Why is it that you lot want instant gratification rather than sustainable investments? The Lekki Deep Sea port and FTZ that currently being built with Dangote refinery was conceived and MOU signed during the twilight of Bola Tinubu as Lagos State governor. Fashola came and kickstarted it. Ambode is continuing...... who benefits most? Lagosians and Nigerian. Are you not even as forward thinking as to imagine a world where each state will be self-sustaining?

I would commend them when I see it in construction
I would rather commend because of two things

1. It's a well-thought out idea to maximize advantages of our water-ways to push trade into the interlands. Even if Obaseki cannot finish it, the next governor will (should) continue. At the end, the economy of Edo State will receive a tremendous boost
2. When states are able to attract foreign Capital, it can only drive our economy northwards.

You have put up here a whole load of shi.t!, infact bull.shi.t!!!

So you will rather stick with pride than to address our deficit and pursue development? Did it bother to concern you how we got to this precarious position in the first place? If we had built infrastructures, will we be begging China at this stage? What is bad in taking loans to address our infrastructure deficit?

You made reference to Venezuela and Turkey, two unrelated examples that bears no semblance with our situation.

What the Cross Rivers governor should have done for his state I stead he wants to turn Tinapa to University Issssorite!
Unfortunately Tinapa is a monster......a whole lot of mess was made during the preliminary stage, a lot of issues were overlooked that came back to hunt them. Tinapa may never be a FTZ or whatever it was meant to be. Rather than lying in waste, it's better to convert it to something salvageable

Please state the projects initiated by this administration. While you're at it, state the ones by the previous administration that got funded by this current admin.

Mapaet, what's the current debt burden of Edo state? Its second only to Lagos, are u aware of that? By virtue of IGR and even FG state distribution, do you think Edo can pay off her debts in 20 years?

Now, in other to do something at all cost, they're signing MOUs with China for more burden, its either in the next few months it is left fallow or the state wriggles continuously in debts they can never pay. That's slavery!

I am not one of those people you through "terse" scary statements to with no data to back it up. So I ask you, what is the debt to GDP of Edo state? what is the IGR of Edo state? What is the projected 5-10-15yr IGR of Edo state?

What is wrong in taking debt to address infrastructure? Give me the link of any academic or business resource/book that says debt is bad. Have you looked at the terms of the MOU signed? Have you looked at the business development plans for the Ports in question? Do you have any idea of the economic development plans of Edo state?

Let me leave you with one tot; If Edo state can bring Azura to live 4months before projected completion date, I will rather trust such a state with bigger ventures.

1. The "quality" of your response to @mknigeriagreat submission is way low
2. Your attempt to draw this discourse to a "state the project initiated by this administration" in fact betrays you as an intellectual wannabe.

Dude, I was part of the team that designed Azura, you're not only capable of intellectual discourse but brewed in hate and can only do insults. How did Azura come into this discourse? You know who initiated the project? Financial commitments were completed in 2015.

You think everybody you meet online is on your level of propaganda and insults. There are no development plan for any state or even the nation at large, its all abt things as they show up.

The guy I quoted said previous admin signed and signed and only this current one funded The previous admin in Edo was APC and current still ApC.. He only can be talking abt the FG.

You guys don't have to sell your mental prowess for morsel of bread.

I won't be replying you after this, I thought as a troll you were capable of independent reasoning, I was wrong, your mental capabilities have been wrapped up by political inclination and you're irredeemable.
