He is a typical bushman who has not seen flyover before because none exists in his state, so you don't expect him to know the difference. They are mostly illiterates from that side.

nnamdijonathan:

Don't mind that guy. He has jumped from flyovers and bridges to types of interchanges instead of him to just accept that Enugu does not have both a flyover or any type of interchange. He asked me to show him the picture of a flyover and I decided to show him the one in Anambra which he can go and see any time and also showed him a cloverleaf interchange so he could see the difference between an interchange and a flyover but, he decided to ignore the focus of the discussion and started talking about types of interchanges.

This is good that they are making the road surface stronger.

At least you can see the speed with which they are attending to it within 24hrs of caving. This bridge collapsed in Enugu state since 3yrs ago till today nothing is being done about it, just like many roads presently in Enugu.

Igbo cities must begin to appreciate nature and balance.

There is no reason why we live in the rain-forest belt where trees and flowers will grow in their natural forms and most of our cities still look like Agadez in Niger Republic or some desert town because we hate to plant flowers and trees to make the air we breathe cleaner and safeguard our environment.

The pictures below show how planting enough trees and flowers can modify and environment and make the whole area habitable and healthy for everyone to live. In many Igbo urban centers today, you can actually smell diesel in the air just like many parts of Lagos.

Have you ever taught of forming a group of 3 or 4 with the sole aim of assisting the government in planting trees on road medians? If you can just decide to contribute a small amount of money together with other Eco lovers to buy tree seeds or young tree plants to be planted, on at least, 10 long road medians in Enugu city, it will go a long way in increasing the greenery of the city. Some youths did it here in Lagos state and I also wanted to join the group at that time but, I later got less concerned. It usually involves getting permission from the LGA office.

this one is old news nah. Mumbai, India currently has the dirtiest air in the world. With the trend of using solar panels that is currently going on in Onitsha, the air pollution is going to reduce by at least, a small margin due to less use of generators. Onitsha people should also help themselves by planting trees either inside or outside their compounds.

Chaii..see 'painmemt'. Na envy dey worry you, enugu state as old and useless as it is does not even have a common flyover up till now. Ugwuanyi has spent 4yrs with no meaningful project to show. Awka flyovers are worldclass and has been in use for 3yrs now without issues. There is no reasonable project in enugu and that is why you are all over the place crying. cheesy

Ogbuefi2020:

Anambra's works commissioner is not an engineer that is why all their projects are of very poor standard. The "mgbidi jericho" at awka which has now reduced everything in Enugu to "mere brigdes" is both architectural and structural misfit that has been undergoing "patch patch" and later barricaded. The worst is that obiano will be going there to snap pictures everyday claiming to be "inspecting"

I am also 100% onboard with such a great idea. Not to take away anything from Enugu, but we need to focus on Onitsha and Aba.

Let us focus on greening up the commercial cities of Aba and Onitsha first. These are the worst neglected cities in Igboland for a long time.
I think Enugu already has decent greenery than commercial cities of Onitsha and Aba

Compulsory building codes MUST include flowers and trees in our environment to check erosion, the way we included provision of water closet toilets in the past to check diseases.
1. We can begin by making ALL our higher institutions to plant trees and flowers on walk-ways.
2. ALL new Housing estates MUST plant flowers and trees in each compound as a compulsory building code.

You are fond of this but I will keep correcting your ignorance or rather your mischief. FYI, Onitsha is getting attention even far more than some seats of powers in Nigeria. Stop putting a progressive city as Onitsha in the same category with Aba. In the case of Onitsha, it has decent serene greened up neighbourhoods that even Enugu cannot boast of.

@OreMI22, We all knew what this Zik's junction used to be like 10yrs ago but look at it today and you are writing this great city with one stagnant town somewhere in the same "paragraph". What about Upper Iweka, Headbridge etc, and what those places used to look like 10yrs ago and what it looks like today, that is the sign of a progressive city that receives attention from the government.

These are pictures I took myself of inner neighbourhoods of Onitsha and one can even start thinking whether it is Lekki. But if Spyder had posted it and tagged it Enugu, you will see mischievous people like OreMI22 jumping out from the cracks to start talking about what he does not know about trees.

Beautiful pics. I love those trees.

This should continue and not a once in a lifetime event, then everybody will go and relax that they have planted one tree 5 years ago. Posting pictures of two roundabouts at Upper Iweka and Inosi-Onira worked on by Peter Obi more than 5 years ago is just deceitful. We actually have better buildings in the east.

We are just struggling to get our people to also key into landscaping as part of building a home. Not just their present concern for the concrete structure alone. I have told people that if only Africans paid Igbo people paid attention to landscaping the way we pay attention to building nice structures, even America will not be more beautiful than Igboland.

The struggle is to get our people to realize the importance of landscaping with trees and flowers, just as they realized concrete structures well designed were better than building ugly poorly designed buildings.

If you can imagine the picture of the estate below without the flowers and trees and the last two with flowers and trees, you will agree that it will look exactly the same when they have flowers and trees and when they don't.

Most estates in Nigeria don't do landscaping and they end up looking like any ordinary low cost housing estate you expect to see in Nigeria. That is what we need to change.

Take for instance, a typical housing estate in Igboland such as Jedidiah gardens (Pics #3 and #4 below), it is a garden estate with only concrete bungalows as the plants in the garden. Not even a single tree because our people think all that matter is the concrete building not the environmental ambiance.

Now look at the first two pictures below, the buildings below are even less structurally beautiful than many solid estates in Igboland, YET the people understand that landscaping makes a place even more beautiful and conducive than the physical structure itself. That is where we need to get our people's mental awareness to reach

Nwokem we don't need your validation because you have always been known as a mischievous poster. My concern is that you don't write a progressive Onitsha on the same paragraph with one stagnant town somewhere. Yes Obi started it and Obiano continued and today there is an institution(leisure & park development) raised by Obiano to take charge of tree planting across the state and not just one off thing.

As much as Fashola planted trees in Lagos, is it all parts of Lagos that have trees? In the case of Enugu, is there any difference between Fegge and Achara layout? Do you see trees in Achara layout or Uwani or Ogui etc?

The same way you see trees and grass in Enugu GRA is the same way you see trees and grass in Onitsha GRA, even better. The same thing happens in public places like the roundabout i highlighted. Stop being mischievous.

PRESS RELEASE
The Glass Tunnel and Buhari Overhead Bridge contracted by Ebonyi Southern Construction Company Limited and China Zhonghao Nigeria Limited are progressing speedily.
Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Fidelis Kings Nweze made this known to Works Media Team while inspecting the ongoing construction of Bypass Glass Tunnel and President Muhammad Buhari’s over Head Bridge. These projects among others were initiated by the King of Infrastructure, Apostle, Engr. Dr. David Nweze Umahi, Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, he said.
The Commissioner speaking in an interview commended the extent of works done so far by these construction companies as they are 85% near completion. He retreated that the quality of Job is up to standard and specification as the resident Engineers do visit the two sites to collect samples for Laboratory analysis.
Engr. Nweze, Stressing on the deadline completion of the Job, said that the tenure supposedly is one year but in less than 6months the job will be ready for commissioning.
Honourable Commissioner for Works and Transport expressed joy and happiness over the pace of work ongoing in the two sites assuring that the contractors handling Bypass Glass Tunnel and President Muhammad Buari’s Bridge will beat the deadline.
He further maintained that the Glass Tunnel and Buhari Bridge when completed will help reduce traffic congestion within Akanu Ibiam rounder-about as well as allowing easy access to Shopping mall, Ecumenical Centre and its environs. This particular rounder-about is the busiest in Abakaliki hence the need to avert accident and gridlock within that zone, he said.
The Commissioner said that the Ministry of Works and Transport is committed to delivering quality infrastructure to Ebonyians and Nigeria at large. He encouraged other Ministry to emulate their doggedness in service delivery and express gratitude to Governor David Umahi for providing the enabling environment so far. Why is it that our Eastern government find it difficult to plant ornaments trees, beautiful flowers on all our major roads and streets, what's the big deal, how much does it cost to plant and maintain this natural beauty?
At least, it helps to control erosion menace and purify the air we breathe.

I greet all the men of goodwill here.
