Bayelsa Sets Up Emergency Numbers Over Pending Flood by BayelsaLegacy(op): 11:58am On Sep 12, 2018
The Bayelsa State Government has established some dedicated call lines to enable residents in the state report cases of high-water level in their areas.

The mobile numbers are 08025814636, 08110413567 and 09037582261.

The development is coming on the heels of the alert issued by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NHSA), that nine states including Bayelsa on the axis of River Niger and three others on the River Benue axis were set to experience floods.

In a joint statement on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson and his Environment counterpart, Hon. Ebipatei Apaingolo, the government said the emergency call lines will be open 24 hours, every day of the week.

The statement urged Bayelsans to take advantage of the mobile numbers to report flood cases and also support government's effort by keeping their immediate environment clean and open up drains within their vicinity.

The statement added that monitoring teams will be set up soon to go round the state to monitor flood prone areas and also respond swiftly to any emergency situation.

According to the statement, the government is partnering with relevant stakeholders and experts including the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to ensure that the situation if it occurs is put under control and insisted that there is no reason to panic.

Nice one.
Meanwhile, here in Rivers state, no proactive measure has been taken to mitigate against the impending flood despite Rivers state been among the 10 flagged States.

Dear NL let me use this medium to express my dismay why this clueless, purposeless sole administrator of Rivers state government must be voted out next year.

1) Despite the billions in IGR, Retirees pension and gratuity has not been paid since 2015.

2) Rivers state scholarship board that has been enjoying seamless support has been grounded.

3) Rivers state sustainable development agency is dead and all staffs laid off without severance pay.

4) N10,000 monthly stipends paid to youth corps members abolished.

5) Civil servants due for promotion since 2015 denied

6) Agency and boards leadership rendered impotent bcs the must seek the approval of the governor before they could even take their launch...if u no understand, leave am like that.

7) lack of transparency in Rivers state budget. Everything about Rivers state budget is shrouded in secrecy since the inception of this administration making it easier for him and his cronies to loot the state effortlessly

8 ) Here is a man who ramble all the time claiming that the state wage bill is beyond the capacity of the state to shoulder as a result doing everything possible force people out of service through frequent biometric verification now turn around to announce the recruitment of 14,000 teachers + 7000 people into civil service.

In as much as I love my kins man by virtue of the fact we are from same ikwerre, Rivers state deserve better than what Wike dishing oout
