I want to start a course on udemy but I don't have laptop but I have a smartphone that could help me but I don't know if it will work. Kindly advice me on which way to go about it.

Yes, you can. If the course is programming related, I strongly advise against. Programming is learned by doing, not by watching and or reading ALONE. So get yourself a laptop with which you'll use to practice what you learn.

like the poster above me said, you might need a laptop if it involves coding, however the are app you can use for light development, there are python, php, java, c++, javascript etc compilers for android and ios.

You'd just need more resilience tho.

Bit web server for android can help you setup php and mysql as a localhost on your device,
AIDE can help you develop java, javascript and C++
QPython for python,
Droid Edit as a code editor
