Senator Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom North-West) who recently dumped the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives' Congress (APC), was beaten by the rain at a rally held yesterday in Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.

The rally was organized in honour of Muhammadu Buhari and to encourage him to continue in office as President beyond 2019, as well as to receive Obong Nsima Ekere, the son of the Senatorial District whose performance has been a source of inspiration and blessing to the entire senatorial district as the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). 

According to reports by Akwa Ibomites who claimed to have attended the rally, the senator and former state governor Akpabio, refused to use an umbrella in the rain as he firmly flaunted his broom at the event. 

It was alleged that senior APC Chieftains said the umbrella is considered a symbol of PDP and as such was not used at the APC event.
