What Are The Causes Of Spark Plug Soaked With Oil? by CarMecx(m): 1:13am On Sep 17, 2018
Common reasons for Oil leaking into spark plug well:

Leaking Valve Cover Gaskets: The valve cover is a metal part found on the top of the engine, which seals the engine and helps prevent oil leaks. Between the valve cover and the engine are gaskets that tend to fail over time. Due to the high temperature of the engine the gaskets can get brittle, and start to leak. It is possible for the oil to leak into the spark plug wells. Leaking valve cover gaskets need to be repaired as quickly as possible, failing to do so can lead to further damage to the engine.

Failing O-Ring Seals: There are O-Ring seals at the bottom of the spark plug wells and if a seal starts to fail, oil can leak past these seals and into the spark plug well. Again, this issue should be repaired as soon as possible and the spark plugs should be changed as well.

Failing Piston Compression Rings: The pistons in a car’s engine have compression rings at the top of the piston and the bottom. These rings are set in grooves in the piston and help scrape excess oil from the cylinder walls and prevent oil from getting into the combustion chamber. If these rings fail, oil can make its way into the spark plugs wells. Other symptoms of failing compression rings include increased exhaust that is blue and smells oily.

Failing Piston: A piston that is running too hot can develop a hole or crack. The most common symptoms of a failing piston include rattle and knocking noises while the car is running, excessive oil burning as well as a loss of power and engine misfiring. It can also lead to oil in the spark plug wells. This is an extremely serious condition that needs to be repaired as soon as possible.

Worn Valve Guides: Valve guides help to regulate air intake by keeping the valves in place while the engine is running. Over time, valve guides can become extremely worn and will require replacement. Blue smoke and oil or ash in the spark plug wells is a common symptom of failing valve guides. Worn valve guides can lead to more serious engine problems and should be repaired as soon as possible.

It means the oil rings, around the
pistons are either broken or worn out.

This could lead to a wearing out of
the piston sleeves.

All this leads to escape of the engine
oil from the crank case into the
combustion chambers.

First thing you notice is smoke in
your exhaust fume, then a 'shorting' of
engine oil, when you check the engine
oil with the dipstick. As such you have to
keep 'topping' your oil.

As the situation worsens & engine oil
leakage into the combustion areas increase,
the plugs are unable to ignite (spark) the petrol/engine oil mix, resulting in the "soaked" plug.

The way forward is to 'ring' the engine or
kuku comot money, buy 'new' Belgium engine.

also When carburetor/injector pumps more fuel that can be burnt completely. it also happens when the plug is weak.

The engine TOP cover is not well sealed..Perhaps the gasket has worn out around those plug holes in the cover.

Spark Plug is always inside oil lol

I guess it's broken oil seal or something

yes; when the plug is weak, it won't release full spark that will burn the fuel completely leading to the remaining unburnt fuel coating/soaking the plug

you try sometimes the most common cause may be the valve seal., if the seal are weak or too strong oil pass through it to the top of the pistons during combustion the heat push the oil to the exhaust and spark plugs

Always use genuine seals and rings when rebuilding your engine.
Buy my rav4 09model and thank me later is just 2.350m but very sharp no stories.

The tip of the spark plug isn't soaked in oil. Your plug spanner is soaked while getting out the plugs and the ceramic part of the plug is soak, also the plug thread was soaked while removing it.

Verdi: Top cover gasket is caked so oil leaks around the plug hole which drips into the plug hole. The doesn't into the combustion chamber, it just sits there decolorizing your plug.

Valve seal leakage cannot soak
plug, but can cause smoky exhaust after
the car has been parked for a while, like
overnight.

what about direct fuel injection engines? the design of these engines guarantee plug fouling overtime.

Most of the belguim engines u buy wer fabricated with sleeves, for instance this is a V8benz engine been fabricated to insert a toyota sienna piston sleeve, then the original piston and rings of the benz will be put back and it will be as good as new,

well let me pick point on oil ring, this ring seal the oil from passing to the top of the piston, that is the combustion chamber, if such ring wear out it will lead to emission of white smoke and oil will now be deposited in the manifolds
Such situations can be corrected by overhauling the engine,
The compressor ring just compress air from bottom death centre to the top death centre, if such rings wear out may also lead to overhauling as corrective maintenance , and at times the valve seal seize and leak direct to the combustion chamber .
How to prevent such conditions is to have a good maintenance schedule and also we should consider kind of oil for engine maintenance. some manufacturer of vehicles engine have their oil specifications standard ,such like SAE40 ,some oil don't have the good viscosity which cause the wear away of engine components. the type of engine be it fuel or diesel as is own oil specifications.
Another thing is the oil filter, the types of filter at times leads to engine knock or seizure ,if the filter is block is a danger to the engine, then also bad oil sensor and plugs may affects the engine smooth running..

When in good condition, yes. Your mechanic should help you to confirm.
Re: What Are The Causes Of Spark Plug Soaked With Oil? by Ogeruo: 2:07pm On Sep 17, 2018
It simply caused by incomplete combustion of fuel in the combustion chamber. Causes are 1, wearing out of piston and rings 2, bad fuel 3, deteriorating spark plug 4, blockage of exhaust pipe.
