Yes, but the issue is censorship.

I agree. Google voluntarily pulled out of China years ago inititially over censorship and China's human rights issues. Public outcry, employees, and investors had a big part in this. Now that Google is trying to ease it's way back in China, there is renewed outcry. The thing is even though a company can do what they wish, a company as big as Google's public image means a lot to them and no company like that wants to be on the wrong side of social and ethical issues.

US government would have reciprocated what the Chinese government did to US tech companies by blocking services like Baidu, wechat, tencent, weibo and even Alibaba and aliexpress in US. I see no difference in Chinese censorship and that of North Korea.

How can the US government do that? US and China operate differently. One country is communistic and the other is not. Maybe I'm missing something.

Part of your question was about Google and China. I'm saying China operates on censorship. Google is a US company, which one of the country's founding principles is freedom of speech. Google had a big problem with China demanding them to follow their censorship policy. Which prompted them to pull out the first time.

Not only Google got affected by their censorship policy, also Facebook giving rise to the likes of tencent and wechat.

IMHO, starting and running a business in the US is absolutely very easy.

Hear me out.

Unlike in Nigeria, the process is well detailed, the forms necessary are easily accessible, the fees are specific and doesn't change based on who you know.

I have businesses (not conglomerate but business none the less) both in Nigeria and USA and I speak from experience.

People also need to understand that the US is such a big place and that various municipality have their own rules and regulations.

Federal law
State law
County law
City law
Subdivision rules and regulations if in one.

In Nigeria we pretty much have federal law it seems.

One of the other things I want to impress on people is that where you leave, friends you keep and generally things that you do will dictate how you will coexist.

It's a pretty free society. I haven't spoken to a police officer since I came back to California in 2010. My Wife joined me here in 2013 and have never spoken to a police officer. I drove from Ibadan to Ijebu Ode last year and there were maybe 5 or 6 checkpoints. Seriously!

Infrastructure is pretty solid. Yeah we have some bad roads here and there.

Though I have been accused of discouraging people to migrate but it is not so. My whole deal is to migrate legally. It just makes things a lot easier.

On credit, it is very useful but one must be disciplined. I have credit cards with 0% interest for 18 months to 2 years. Basically free money to use while I earn interest on my savings. If you are disciplined to pay it off before the 18 months i sup then you're good. I just pity those that don't know how to use credit as they're selling themselves short in a credit society.

A good credit record affects the following:

Car insurance
Employment
Housing
Utilities (they can then ask for a hefty deposit but won't deny you service)

So you can see that it's not a play thing. You can't get a job in a bank if you have bad credit.

If you see your Americana friend with a iPhone X or S9 then one of three things. He bought it cash for about $1,000, he has good credit so that he got 0% rate or he has bad credit and he's paying ridiculous interest rate.

If you're a car freak like me then it is very easy to indulge yourself in the car hobby. America is not a country where if you have a 2000 Accord people will think you're piss poor like they would look at you in Nigeria. You can drive a very clean, very good and dependable car for under $1,000

Goo luck to all aspirants. Its a very good place to be a normal human being but you have got to hustle.

Hey bro, can I send you a pm?

Not necessarily. I taught at the University of Texas school of public health with a Masters. You'll just be restricted to entry and leveling courses and won't be able to get tenure. Personally though, I preferred teaching high school to grad school.

Absolutely correct...you explained it more thoroughly. Thank you..
Honestly, I wouldn't want to be restricted and not have tenure hence the definite need for the doctorate.

Yes...all I've ever taught (until thus past year) has been inner-city kids.
Soooo many challenges...but these kids need so much more than just a "formal" education. You actually become their parent...and although I'm not proud to say-I had a few times where I lost my "Jesus"...(and had to come back and humbly apologize).
However, show those kids (no matter what age/grade) some true, sincere, tough and real love...and boy I tell you this: they are forever loyal and loving to you.
The paperwork, teaching to a "test" and restrictions/lack of creativity and major behavioral problems is what has really dampened teaching in today's society...(at least from a public-school view).
But hey, if you've got that passion, then I guess, nothing will stop you.

I'm doing Business Administration now, I will be done in 6 months. After which my dream job is working for The Small Business Association or Minority Business Association. Either way, not for profit. Then once I get hired by someone, I will get my MBA at my employer's expense.

I love Marketing but decided to do Business Administration because there are so many more avenues and options, unless you know for sure you want to specialize in something like Accounting. That's my advice to you.

okay cool, I want to get an mba though. Are you doing an online program?

100% online for me. There are MBA programs that are 1pp% online. I think colleges have come to realize that there is growing demand and interest for online programs.

Nothing exciting to report on my hand.
How's the networking and friend finding coming?

The Nun? I heard it's good but i don't do horror movies.
Peppermint was good, saw that.

Mine was hybrid. There are just some things you won't get from online only IMO. We met in person once a week for each class and had some of the best lessons.

Soon as I can leave the house, so ready for peppermint. I got the AMC movie pass for $20/month. Three movies a week including new releases, etc. No blackouts. Plus you get discounts on if you buy tickets for someone else. LOVE IT. Saw everything in theaters and a couple on opening day and didn't pay a dime more. Saw Incredibles 2 twice, ant man 4 times, Jurassic Park thrice... You get the idea. If you haven't seen it, plot twist of the month was in Mile 22.

funny thing, since living here, I don't really watch American movies. I mainly watch old Nigerian movies. Back home I used to dislike them but for some reason now , I love watching them maybe because they give me a nostalgia feeling about Nigeria.

Yeah, I agree. For me, math is one of those subjects I need to be front row in. But then, that would mean I can't go to "lecture" at 1am.

I was going to ask how baby watch is? No baby yet or are you post partum?
I thought about the pass but I try to go in the afternoon before 5, so it is cheaper.

She was born September 6th smiley

It's $5 before noon so it would take for movies to pay for itself. I saw way more than four a month grin But you also get rewards that rack up quickly and use them for the concessions stand.

I like them too. I've watched all the ones on Netflix already. My friend and I tried to watch The Wedding Party 2 on YouTube, but all the uploads were click bait. Anybody have any ideas on how to watch it or other suggestions of must see NollyWood films?
