A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Douye Diri has hinted that only the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will determine President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term. Diri stressed that Buhari’s second term ambition will only succeed if PDP does not put its house in order with regards to the choice of a presidential candidate. Addressing journalists after submitting his expression of interest form for the Bayelsa Central Senatorial seat, Diri said if the “PDP does not lay its bed well ahead of the 2019 polls,” Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, may realize their dream of a second term. Diri, who is currently the member representing Kolokuma/Opokuma/Yenagoa Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State, said, “2019 presents the brightest of chances to the PDP. But I feel sad that presidential candidates are coming in their 20s. If we don’t put our bed well, the APC might win. The mood of the country is high. “I believe that there should be a caucus that will work to stop more people and ensure that those already with the party are screened to three formidable one for a formidable force to emerge. “APC has worked themselves into a corner that the people are seeking for an alternative government. They have shown that they lack capacity to take the country out of the doldrums. Did you see President Obama of United States blame former President Bush for past mistakes? Obama rolled up his sleeve for work. “But in Nigeria, the APC embarked on blame game without capacity for work. Nigerians are sick and tired of the APC government.with their excuses and deleting of the country. They started de-maketing Nigeria by saying everyone is corrupt except them that are acclaimed saints. This one is already hugging defeat and hinging APC likely victory on the excuse that they have too many presidential aspirants. Look, you people should pick Atiku, Saraki, Kwakanso, Tambuwal and David Mark on a ballot as one President and four VPs, President Buhari will defeat you and still collect change. The implosion of the PDP is imminent and predictable after their primaries. When i look at the numbers of the PDP aspirants jostling for the presidential ticket and the resources those aspirants are committing to the campaign my heart prick. The implication is that if the PDP succeed in taking over power come 2019, the likelihood is that the winner will use the whole 4 years settling losers' aspirants interest and demobilising party patronage. 2 Likes 2 Shares |
