SarakiBukola:
Summary : if your pancreas is functional, it can handle any amount of sugar ingested....

Common sense dictates that the higher the load, the higher the stress and likelihood of the organ breaking down

All things being equal ooo
By your logic, consuming copious amounts of water also weakens your kidneys and lead to their eventually breakdown?

Doc, the problem we have here is English language. The word CAUSE is the problem. If someone's insulin is not enough and he keeps gulping sauger, the effect is excess sugar in the blood and that's diebetis. However, if you don't have enough insulin and you moderate your sugar intake, then you will be fine. Answer is Yes, excess sugar is likely to bring up the diabetics in you apparently cause you diabetics

It's simple, prevention s better than cure. Not all know their insulin level, if it functions well or if the body doesn't respond to it. Just take sugar minimally, and if diabetes runs in your family, reduce the sugar intake. All still boils down to thesame thing, reduce the intake of sugar to be on a safer side.

I trird[sic] to make sense out of your first 2 statements..unfortunately,no sense. It was only an emotion-laden knee jerk response.
Of course I will visit Nigerian doctors. It does not take rocket science to cure malaria, typhoid and migraines.

Sugar in excess quantity CAN cause diabetes. Please don't let naija doctors that where trained in 2017 with 1970 text books and notes to misguide you. YES it is insulin that regulates sugar absorption, but like anything excess, it can only deal with so much at a time. That's why weight and lack of exercise are predisposing factors to diabetes (in addition to genes). Exercise burns calories without stressing your insulin. Big people eat more food and hence more sugar per portion and meal's frequency.

A very old, simple but effective method is to taste your urine regularly (not drink or sip, just tip of fingers taste). Normal urine should be salty. If it's sugary there's a problem. Exercise and cut down on sugars and late night meals. If it's so sweet that it attracts ants then quickly see a Doctor. Now bitter or constant tasteless urine might be a problem of pre diabetes (tasteless) or infection (bitter). See a Doctor.

If you try any of these old methods please do wash your hands and disinfect your mouth with a mouth wash.

Well I must commend the doctor for what many clothed homo-sapiens will tag 'abnormal brohaha'
Diabetes is involved in the 'artificial' hypersensitive immunological reaction to some substance or food, this can make the patient feel frustrated.. DIABETES IS EVIL, Rest in peace FATHER
