As I see it, that plane na chattered flight with no proper booking, Kano Airport accepted it cos they were VIPs and would always be given preference to land. They got to their destination and Abuja rejected them cos there was rehearsal which every other airport would have been notified for the timings. VIPs damned the consequences and forced the plane to land inspite of warnings cos they didn't want to return to kano.

Secondly how did the pessengers know about the communication between the captain and the control tower?
Commercial licensed Captain dont take command from any passenger even if he is the owner of the aircraft. He must liased with the ground controller
Military drills are very dangerous to civillian aircrafts. Because fighter jets have a very high maneuvering ability which civillian aircrafts dont have. During drills a fighter jet will leave maiduguri airport and take only 15 minutes to reach sokoto airport (personal observation)

What do u really know about Air Traffic Management? Though formation flights should be coordinated in an airspace with less traffic to avoid situations like this but not until an investigation is carried out, and you will never know the pilot was advised properly as most can be very stubborn.
