The control tower official was wrong to have told the pilot not to land, maybe the pilot didn't communicate his dilemma to them. |

Racoon:The question is hope when they landed they were able to verify whether there was truly military aircraft at the airport, by the way even if they were, what would they be doing at the runway for over one hour that other airplanes cannot land |

Ishilove:why keep the plane in the air when the pilot has announced he is running out of fuel? The fuel may not even be enough to take the plane back to Kano or even the nearest airport! |

AZMAN AIR: NAMA SAYS AIRLINE NEVER DECLARED EMERGENCY NIGERIAN Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has reacted to reports that made rounds yesterday, declaring it as false, claiming that an Azman Air aircraft declared an emergency in Abuja from Kano. Describing the story as untrue, General Manager Public Affairs, NAMA, Khalid Emele in a statement made available to nigerianflightdeck.com, explained the situation. Emele’s statement read, “The attention of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has been drawn to a misleading report by an online medium to the effect that an Azman aircraft from Kano enroute Abuja nearly ran out of fuel while “hovering in the air” (more appropriately, “held in the air”) for over an hour as it was prevented from landing. The story went on that the pilot contemplated returning to Kano before passengers prevailed on him to land without clearance from the control tower.” “We are constrained to set the records straight and put things in proper perspective for the benefit of the flying public. The Nigerian Airforce is currently practising for their display on 1st October and an airspace was designated for them. All civil aircraft are held at about 20 – 30 nautical miles as military aircraft take off or land. The said Azman aircraft was held along with other aircraft in the course of separating traffic to ensure that the aircraft and their passengers land safely.” “It is noteworthy to state that the Azman pilot did not declare any emergency. He was eventually given clearance by air traffic control to land when it was safe to do so. The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency hereby assures the public of the safety of the Nigerian airspace.” Yesterday on its Twitter handle, Azman Air also debunked the story staying there was nothing further from the truth. This is to inform the General Public that the news making round the Social Media that Azman Air ran out of Fuel while being held amid air enroute Abuja from Kano on the 24th of September and that we had to force a landing without Clearance is FALSE. Azman Air Flight ZQ2332 heading to Abuja from Kano yesterday 24th September 2018 was amongst the Aircrafts held in the Abuja Airspace because we were not cleared for Landing. Azman Air Crew informed the Passengers of these developments accordingly to surmount panic in the cabin. After being held for 45 minutes; Our Experienced crew already diverted back to Kano when they were informed that the terminal is now opened, and they were cleared for Landing which was done smoothly and Safely. To set the record Straight; The story circulating that we forced a landing without clearance because we ran out of fuel is UNTRUE. The Captain in command confirmed that they had more than 2hrs worth of Fuel aside the Reserve by the time they were diverting back to Kano even though Abuja to Kano Flight is less than 1hr. Azman Air operates under the auspices of Domestic/International Laws and Regulations. We are dedicated to delivering Safe, Affordable and Reliable Air Transport to our amiable Passengers. #FLYSAFEFLYAZMAN. |
