You father is a dog. All the efforts you are making to trigger an e-fight between states will soon pay off then you will blame your ancestors here.

You are even dumber than I thought.How many teaching hospitals are in Abia, Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi? Please answer us.

Now in Anambra we have 2 teaching hospitals, one for state and one for the FG, located in Awka and Nnewi respectively. Is it a must that teaching hospitals will be replicated in all the cities in a state? If yes, show us any state that has done it for you to come here to spew nonsense.

Aside these teaching hospitals, Anambra has Onitsha general hospital, which has been upgraded into a specialist hospital. This is outside countless mission hospitals that are being financially sponsored by the state govt.

Tell me any state that can compete with Anambra in the light of the afore-mentioned. Dumb useless old man.

Despite ranting for 5 pages, the dog will not post even ONE city in entire Nigeria EXCEPT Onitsha that does not have a Teaching Hospital or a Federal Medical Center.

But he will try in Vain to post Pictures of Catholic hospital and Anglican hospitals in the Onitsha and try to pass them off as Government Tertiary Hospitals.

I hope anyone who has viewed this thread understand my own outrage against Ngige and Peter Obi when they failed to upgrade Onitsha General Hospital to a Specialist Hospital or a branch of Anambra State University teaching Hospital.

Even cities like Abakaliki which we like to laugh at have two better tertiary hospital system compared to Onitsha which has none.
To break this down in plain language for a lay person. What i am saying is that if you have a road traffic accident in Onitsha or Abakaliki which involve fractures and advanced medical care, you are very likely to die if you had the accident in Onitsha than if you had the accident in Abakaliki or even Aba!

This is why i think providing a solid and well equipped tertiary hospital in Onitsha will be Obiano's greatest legacy not necessarily building of flyover. Just as building University of Nigeria Nsukka, to educate masses of people in Nigeria rather than going abroad for university education was Zik's greatest legacy not really all the roads he tarred in Enu-Onicha.

There are only 21 Federal Medical Centres in Nigeria and 19 Teaching Hospitals (excluding Abuja). That's 40 in total for the 36 states. Only a few states have 2 of these: Ebonyi being one of very few. Anambra has one: a teaching hospital. Same with mighty states like Rivers, Kano, Kaduna, Oyo and Ogun who only have one. While it's true we should aspire for more, your claim was somewhat misleading making it out like we are a rare case.
And Anambra from my experience has one of the highest concentrations of hospitals/clinics/medical centers in the country - mostly private owned. There is greater access to healthcare in Anambra than most states in the federation.

What he is advocating for is corresponding government investment in public health facilities in Onitsha since what we currently have are private and mission hospitals. Onitsha doesn't have public health facility that is up to standard, Onitsha General Hospital is not enough for a city with high energy and population like Onitsha. If you compare what ANSG is investing in health in Onitsha and divide it by the population you will catch his drift. How can there be only one obsolete General Hospital in Onitsha, this is absurd and disgusting.

Dude stop being smart by half. NOBODY SAID ANAMBRA! WE SAID ONITSHA, THE BIGGEST CITY IN ANAMBRA.

Everyone knows that NAUTH Nnewi, Anambra State is a federal teaching hospital. It should in fact be sited in the biggest city in the state, which is mainly the capital city in many states. Except for states like Abia and Anambra where their biggest cities are not their state capital.

Abia made sure where most of her citizens lived (Aba) had at least a state teaching hospital in the city to cater for health of its teaming population.

In the case of Onitsha, it remains the ONLY city of at least 1 million people in Nigeria that has neither a teaching hospital (either Federal or State owned) nor a Federal Medical Center . Again, I challenge you to do a little research and find other populous cities like Onitsha in Nigeria without a huge tertiary health center such as FMC or Teaching hospital or even both and a specialist hospital added as extra to some cities where up to 1 million people live.

That is why I am commending Gov. OBIANO for correcting the anomaly. Helping mission hospitals is good, but they can never match the capacity of a teaching hospital nor attract even half of the medical specialties in a teaching hospital. But a well built specialist hospital can do that

Awka= COOUTH

Onitsha= Specialist hospital

Nnewi= NAUTH.

I worked in the same hospital and several hospitals in Nigeria and the USA, so i know exactly what i'm talking about.

I love my state, but it does not mean i cannot speak truth to power.

In Onitsha, many innocent people have died from treatable common ailments like Asthma, diabetes, epilepsy because Onitsha is filled with quacks that cannot treat anything. The only general hospital in the town looks like a poultry which no right thinking person will visit to get treated. People serious about their health travel to Enugu to get competent care. Others remain in Onitsha and continue doing trado-medical until they finally die from the disease.

Look at the chart below and notice that all cities the size of Onitsha have at least a large TH or FMC or State Specialist Hospital

You like to pontificate your shallow and pedantic points in a brash way without a care of quality in what you say.

First off; why say onitsha is full of quacks? It’s this gross comment that stuck out the most. Of all the hospitals (excluding government owned) in osha, why make such a statement? Are govt owned hospitals the only ones allowed to have real doctors? I don’t get it!!

Why say onitsha residents journey to enugu to get healthcare? When recently an Igwe in enugu was left for dead because no doctor was on seat to refer the case to another hospital over lack of equipment.

There are a over 10 hospitals within a 5km radious in onitsha..why journey 158km to enugu over an asthmatic emergency?

This would be my last comment to you ever...don’t bother replying

You are a bitter frustrated fellow. Instead of you to focus on your dead state but you are here breaking your head over a progressive state like Anambra. Were you the undertaker that supervised the death of the patients? How did you know that people died? I don't know why some people are just out to break their head over what they know nothing about.

Now you have to be awake till 2a.m just to spew your hate and frustration. Who actually cursed you? Why are you restless over Anambra matter even when you know that your own state is in shambles. You have never opened any thread to discuss the mess in your state.

Anambra has the best medical facilities in the SE. Onitsha has specialist hospital, Awka has COOUTH and Nnewi has NAUTH. Onitsha equally has several mission hospitals scattered all over the city that is being funded by the government. Why are you just bitter and frustrated? Tufiaa.

@raker300, you are nothing but an emotional wreck. Since you have been recruited into the folds of those that defeat logic with sentiments I got no words to waste on you.
You all can go and die because someone said there are better hospitals in Enugu than Onitsha which is a universal fact.
In 2001 when my in-law was involved in a ghastly motor accident, it was in a specialist hospital that he was taken to after few months in one hospital at Venn Road South I have forgotten it's name.
in 2012 when I needed to be attended medically it was at FMC Asaba most people suggested and I used it.

There is no mincing word over it, you all can be as emotional and sentimental as you wish but just pray you don't sneak yourselves or love ones to either Enugu or Asaba in search of the best medical attention just because you used Your Own mouth to ruin your destiny.

Onitsha need more investment in the health sector, the percentage of medical personnel per the city population is infinitesimally low.
You all should kiss the truth and stop being sentimental bastards.

O'l boy i don't need you validation. I also don't reply or quote iidiots. Doing it here is a mark of respect for you. I will continue to state the facts no matter whose ox or chicken is gored.

Yes, Onitsha has the highest prevalence of quack doctors in the entire SE followed by Aba. The types of shocking practices they do including the so called "blood washing" is beyond comprehension for anyone in the medical field. Governments in the past just allowed most of these quack clinics to continue operating and killing people. Unfortunately, the educational level of most traders in the city make them highly susceptible to manipulation by these quacks. Many of these quacks never graduated from Medical school nor even did the mandatory housemanship. But they come to Onitsha to rent a flat and start practicing quackery and killing some unfortunate guinea pigs with their substandard medical care and surgeries they perform without qualification

Yes, medical specialties are not easy to comeby. Most of those people live close to a teaching hospital of functional State specialist hospitals where they are usually employed. Then some set up private clinics in town, thus bring qualified physicians into that city. That is why Nnewi has lots of highly qualified physicians than Onitsha because of the impact of the Teaching Hospital.

O'l boy, forget your childish emotional outburst and dig into the matter. You will realize that there should be NO REASON why Onitsha with a massive population should be left for decades without a teaching hospital or a massive specialist hospital. Cities like Asaba that have a fraction of the population in Onitsha have FMC. Having private hospitals should be complimentary to government hospitals and not be the main instrument that government relies on to deliver quality healthcare for its people.

General hospitals are appropriate to serve small sized towns like Ihiala, Ekwulobia or Orlu and not a city the size of Onitsha.
