On a recent journey between Uyo and Lagos via Port Harcourt, I got into a deep valley along the road where half of the car was submerged in mud mixed with diesel from a tanker that fell.

It caked my radiator and condenser with a mix of mud and diesel....I have to take down the front bumper to give both a thorough wash....as using a/c creates an overheating situation.

Sorry bad things happen.

I have other stories under my belt so that is why I now permanently travel with a toolbox weighing over 20kg so I can tackle anything along the way.

I'm ok bro just exhausted. Left Ijebu Ode at 3pm yesterday, got into PH at 5:47am this morning.

I have a meeting for some hours. I'll be back with pictures and gist.

I must also appreciate all who showed concern and advice especially Gazzuzz' who called all through my ordeal. God bless you all.

50 km from Ore Vehicle started overheating again. We managed it to Pre where a mechanic checked and said it was the top cylinder and it had to be ordered from Benin. I had an important meeting early Tuesday morning so I decided to manage the vehicle.

1. Don't drive above 50km.
2. Stop every one hour for the engine to cool down then top with water.

That was the strategy.

LESSON FOR DISCUSSION

If your vehicle breaks down on a trip and it's a serious issue, never ever give it to the road side guys. Tow it to a reliable garage.
Re: From Port Harcourt To Lagos And Back by Mayor555(m): 7:22am On Oct 03, 2018
The engine of this city is a strong one, you must have paid less attention to the temperature and cooling system.

I know money is not that easy to get.
the engine of this car costs between 65k-75k.. If it's your car, get a replacement engine and enjoy the 'fuel repelling' Honda city.

I wanted to put it up for sale before but not anymore. I've fallen for it. The engine is quite forgiving and the fuel economy is better than a Corolla by far.

I'm fixing and keeping it.

Most likely the cylinder head warped from the original gasket failure. When you replace, check the head with a metal straight edge to be sure it doesn't have the same problem
