It's a lucrative biz I can assure you but only when you are actively involved in it otherwise you may end up opening a biz for your driver and at end not getting any thing in return. Firstly, you have to go back and research on the model of Toyota bus to buy. There are type of engines that Toyota bus come with and there are ones that are transport friendly and cheap to maintain. Secondly, check if their is any model that is more fuel economy because fuel economy is the bedrock of transportation. Thirdly, check the number of trips those that are already in the biz cover per day. Also check the passengers turnout on the route. Fourthly, check the total overhead expenses per trip because in Lagos for example, if you load your bus in a park, you may end up leaving the park with 2/3 of the total passengers money before you talk of fuel and other settlements on the way like police because I know that there are so many police check points along that route Lastly, check the state of the road. All these has to be thoroughly investigated because a single mistake will ruin the biz. But if you have Uber in PH, it's better you use the money and buy two cars . Drive one and give one out to a driver. #100k is guaranteed every week. I am assuring you that and you will still look clean like a banker. |

I don't know much about transportation within tertiary institutions. Am sure this will only apply to institutions with multiple campuses, or very large campuses that require keke. The income may not be good enough, but like I said, I don't know much about that area of road transport. Thunday1005: |

Nice one... But I think you target for the worst situation. Even if you make 30000 per day you can still make more than the cost money in 6months. So,just make out your time to drive it for atleast 6months,then give it out and be collecting 20k or 15k daily . |

Transportation business is lucrative, I have done my research as well provided your manage it yourself. Forget graduate thing, this is money matter. However, your calculation was too raw, this is metals running every day, fault can be developed any time. |

First and foremost, take out comprehensive insurance which is about 5% of car value. Do tracking which is about 35k a year. Servicing every 4000 km driven. That should cost you around 8-10k, assuming you are using good oil. Cost of registration at the park and daily ticket levies. You have to find out. Police payment can't be daily, so set aside a small sum. Set aside monies weekly for repairs, maintenance and emergencies. Redo your calculation. Good luck. |

Gagare1:I do sympathise with you. You shall rise again. I'm into intra-city minibuses business, less prone to serious accidents but daily income is low unless you're driving one yourself. I don't drive. |

Tissue:You can bro especially in Abuja Since you have up to 3.3m, you can get self contain of 150k (though I don't know if you have family) in Abuja and a car around the said previous price. Then you're good to go! |
| Re: How Lucrative Is The Transportation Sector?? by AleAirHub(m): 8:19pm On Oct 01, 2018 |
Nice calculation out there . If that is how the interstate transportation is very lucrative , I for don flood the business with 6buses for a start.CORRECTION. From Port Harcourt to Yenagoa via bus is N500 along the road & park is N700 but many masses prefer along the road because of sharp sharp movement. Union ticket per a Trip is N1000 whether you load from park or along the road. Minimum fuel cost per trip is N1500. Conductor fees per day should be around N1500/2500. Checking point joint is 4 during daylight & 5 during night which translate to total sum of N500 to oga police pocket ![]() So total expenses per trip will be around N3000/N3500. So from my analysis , your profit margin should be N20000/N25000 that gives you N600k/750k per month. Then reserve at list N50k/60k for monthly maintenance. Lastly your net profit margin per month should be around N550k / 700k. Sir later make I face my white rice with fresh fish pepper soup dinner ![]() TissuePaper: |

Amen my brother. Thank you for your kind words. I am working hard and believing that I can rise again, even beyond my initial target. TissuePaper:okay make I follow put mouth since I am also into it. That figure u quote up there is good and easy to write on the paper but reverse is the case In reality. ![]() Transportation business is very lucrative and a slow blood money when u have a good driver or u drive it yourself. Buy a good tokunbo bus and not Nigeria use if u don't want stories from your driver. since u ply east...... I think they use hummer bus there but if u can go for Mazda bus (18 passenger) u will thank me later in future cos it's cheaper, strong and easy to maintain. ![]() I don't know the daily payment in PH but here in Lagos, 18 passenger bus pay 7-8k per day so we make roughly 40k+ per week per bus. Saturday is excluded for general check up of the vehicles and maintainance. Be ready to be tough on your drivers if not, they will buy their own bus from your bus and give u stories everyday. ![]() |

transport business is gud especially if you are the one driving your car. 18k to bayelsa is cool but there maybe times you can't get 1 trip per day in such a business. I advise you give it a try since you are the driver |
