My Bitter Experience With Access Bank. by kingsamosy(m): 5:28am On Oct 02, 2018
I have always heard about unauthorized deduction from customers accounts by their banks but in my head, it is totally impossible, and will never happen to me. Little did I know that I will be proven wrong so soon.

At about 7.27am yesterday, 27th sept. 2018, I received a debit alert, I opened it hoping to see debit of 100naira for ATM monthly charges. To my greatest dismay, Access bank debited my account of 1200naira and the description reference they gave was “USSD transaction Fee”. I thought it was a mistake, I immediately complained to their customer care via email and tweeted them @Accessbank_help and I have no response till this moment of writing this.

In the afternoon of the same day, I visited one of their branches closest to me, that was when it dawned on me that I have been robbed in a day light. The lady on the customer care seat said, “the debit was for all the USSD transaction you have carried out since you opened your account”. 1200naira debit for USSD transaction when I have their mobile App and ATM card. Mind you this is an account I opened in 2014.

Which bank carry out this kind of an unethical act in this civilized world, charging the customers for a product that was free as at the time the customers used it. I know we are many bedeviled by this fate, let all speak up, maybe tomorrow another around of illegal debit will be for all transactions carried out via their mobile app. Access has lost my trust in them, and I don’t think I will continue banking with them if they don’t return all these monies debited from the customers. The best will be to close the account, not just withdraw all my money but close the account.

I hope access bank management do the right thing with regards to this rip off going on in their head quarter.
