US President Donald Trump has said that the Saudi Arabia monarchy would fall “within two weeks” without US military support, a thing the Gulf kingdom has enjoyed over the decades. “We protect Saudi Arabia,” Trump proclaimed at a rally in Southaven, Mississippi. “And I love the King, King Salman. But I said ‘King, we’re protecting you, you might not be there for two weeks without us. You have to pay for your military.’” Though Trump failed to mention when he made the statement to King Salman, it is however noted that both leaders spoke on Phone on Saturday. With no US military base in the oil rich kingdom, it still has a large American contingent at Al Udeid Airbase in Qatar. The US Fifth Fleet is situated in Bahrain, while Kuwait hosts US troops. American also has military presence in the UAE, Iraq, Jordan, and Oman, ever available should Saudi Arabia need help at a moment’s notice. Though Trump has not demanded payment for keeping US troops in the oil-rich region, he however urged them to lower oil prices in return for security last week. “We defend many of these nations for nothing, and then they take advantage of us by giving us high oil prices. Not good. Let's analyze this. Without the US... Iran, Hezbollah & Israel will swallow Saudi in weeks. Throw in Syria. Qatar will willingly supply aid too. Turkey & Russia will also support their downfall indirectly for strategic reasons. The only true allies they have there are Egypt & Pakistan. Pakistan will be wary of India taking advantage of any distraction caused by a conflict of this magnitude & might not be too committed. Trump's right. 7 Likes |
