Nigeria's foundational problem is ethno-religious divisions. This led to the Nigerian civil war which destroyed the original workable regional system of government, brought decades of military rule and dumped us into an unworkable system of government.

Kenya's problems are extreme corruption and nothing else.

Bad governance doesn't work for TZ. It explain why Nigeria is poor. It also could explain why Kenya is poor. TZ political elite is generally less corrupt & more democratic -"one party state".

TZ is plagued more by POOR LEADERSHIP THAT HAVE HISTORICALLY MADE BAD POLICIES AFTER ANOTHER. TZ leadership right from Nyerere have made plunder after plunders. Now Magufuli is continuing on that legacy.

Whilst kenya super-corrupt leaders care more about the bottom-line of the people (reducing poverty and increasing access to health, nutrition, housing, education and economic opportunities) majority of TZ leaders are given to grand-standing preaching useless rhetoric day (anti-colonialists,equality, communism, exploitation) in day out - something they learnt from Mwalimu Julius Nyerere an ideological demagogue like Kwame Nkrumah!. Ghanaians have to thank Jimmy Rawling from saving them the Tanzania curse - country where people just lazy around talking endlessly!!.

Nobody in TZ cares about facts such as nearly all of them cannot write a sentence in English after 12 years of education.

The 7% growth is happening mostly in mining sector. You can ask Nigeria how far that has taken them. It's not the broad-based economic growth that can lift people out of poverty.

Sudan has one of the greatest histories of Africa with the Nubian kingdom. This always leaves many other Africans bewildered as to why most Sudanese are willing to trade their Nubian identity for an Arab one.

Yes, you are right.
Oil had it's own effects, but had it not been for the Nigerian civil war, oil still wouldn't have been as issue.

So, tribalism was the foundation of every issue in Nigeria, it was the mother of all.

For the records, Nigeria has 350 ethnic groups. So, Kenya is not more ethnically diverse than Nigeria. Just that regionalism helped to classify different Nigerian ethnic groups together and people bore a regional identity.
The British created Hausa, Yoruba & Igbo as 3 major ethnic groups and lumped all minorities under one of them.

Hmm, in most African countries, public servants have the right to engage in businesses. This is allowed in typical capitalist settings, isn't it?

In Kenya this was not the case until some Ndegwa commission allowed public servant to engage in private business - the lines btw private and public sector to be blurred. Public servants should NOT be allowed to do private business. There will just be a lot of conflicts. Kenya public servants are amongst the continent richest from such conflict of interest and outright corruption.

It very sad that British left us modern systems and procedures - but we had to find out bottom and crawl out.

English is the language of business...and most country are trying to learn it. In Kenya we have kiswahili as national language and English more as the official language. That is why Nairobi attract global companies - and nobody is heading to TZ - except for minning or tourism.

If areas in Oromia which aren’t majority Oromo will not have their own zone to administer, then I prefer the Oromia zone of Amhara region to be abolished and just incorporated it into south Welo zone. I prefer the Agew in Amhara region to have their own regions so they can easily renaissance their cultures. There many other things but the above are mains.

Thanks for this enlightenment. I always thought western public officers were allowed to run private businesses. I knew about Trump handing over his business to his family members too control, but I never knew he resigned officially.

I also thought he left his business to his family members to run just so he could have more devoted time to his political office.

I think the Kenyan govt are also doing a purposeful great job in attracting foreign investments.

Most North Africans do not speak English but they attract a whole lot of investments. How conducive an environment is matters the most I think.

In the US and most western world - private business or employment or earnings is not simply not allowed (not even thinkable) for a public servant. In Africa - it huge mess - because there is no such prohibition. The justification is our public servant are not well paid - so they need to suplement their income - but that breed insidious corruption that is hard to tackle - than trying to fix the pay for public servant to be competitive.

Actually it is Oromos and few Tigray people who care more about their ethnicity. Other Ethiopians are living as Ethiopians.
