BEROM ARE NOT TERRORISTS

Growing up in the cool city of Jos, you won't escape hearing the greetings and courtesies in Berom language. We use that language as kids when greeting the kindhearted ngo in our area of town. You see, Berom share Jos city with the Afizere and Anaguta ethnic groups long before colonialists and the tin mines brought a large number of people from the northern parts of the country to settle. Northerners are however not the only ones to have migrated and settle in Jos, southerners did so too. There is a heavy Yoruba and Igbo presence in Jos. In fact some streets in Jos bear the names of Southerners. The Berom I know will accommodate anyone and everyone, they are so peaceful and calm that people even thought they are somehow foolish. We have never heard of any violence on the part of the Berom except tales of wars in the pre-colonial times. The peaceful nature of the city was such that people simply live where they want to. There were no Christian or Muslim communities, settlers or indigenous people's communities, there was only Jos city. But all these changed when monsters arrive and set the people against each other. Still, the Berom maintain their peaceful nature and I say this because it takes only a people in love with peace to not create a Niger Delta style militancy as their people are killed every day and their crops and farms destroyed while they equally lose villages. To say that Berom are terrorists today is a joke taken to far. If Berom became violent, it is simply because of the human instinct to survive because the government is clearly not interested in ending the killings in Berom land and the people must survive. I don't support violence of any kind but when you are constantly under attack in the way the Berom people and other tribes of Plateau people are with no adequate security from government, you will create a people who will fight back to survive. It is a natural human instinct.
As a person familiar with the Berom people after years of living among them and being blessed by their hospitality, I say with boldness that BEROM ARE NOT TERRORISTS. Government should simply find ALL KILLERS on the Plateau and put an end to the bloodshed.

Infact my elder sister is married to a berom man.Beroms are the most peaceful and loving people you can ever come across. Almighty creator arise and restore the peace jos was once known for. Amen.

God bless you OP. Only desperate people who don't know where they come from will call d Berom people terrorist. There are a good number of yuruba, Igbo and other great Nigerian tribes residing in Jos but have u ever heard of any of d tribe having issues with the Berom man aside the Hausa/Fulani? I know only those that don't use their brains like the Hausa Fulani will attack this post. Berom are peaceful people even in d mist of this provocations they remain peaceful.

I was told by my grand father, how the Beroms and other northerners killed thousands of igbo's in 1945 and 1966.
