Ok,nwannenwayi.
It is this attitude that stole the governorship from us after Peter Obi.Others cant trust us.
But thank God we have collected our Onitsha north lga.i cant stop appreciating Igwe Achebe. He has done so much and made so much changes .He has brought us so much respect.I also appreciate Peter Obi who accorded the Obi so much respect. He tried a lot with fixing road in onitsha.

I so much love Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe. Since ascending the throne, he has brought honour, prestige, recognition and respect to the Onitsha traditional institution.

His charisma and demeanour is legendary, coming from corporate Nigeria.

I love traditional rulers that were once corporate executives.

They are different from money bag traditional rulers

Igweeeee!!! May you rule the kingdom of Ezechima with wisdom

How come the Obi of Onitsha dress in white regalia like the Ooni of Ife and the Oba of Benin. There seems to be something common about them.
In Igbo culture, white represents purity/sanctity while red connotes something sacred.
The oba of benins traditional regalia is actually red and not white.

The oldest documented monarchy in Nigeria is the Nri which held sway way before the Oba of Benin and the emergence those of the Yoruba and its influence stretched all the way to present day Benin before the emergence of the Oba kingship.

It may interest you to know that the first stool of the Benin Oba was initially in the Igbo town of Agbor (present day Anioma)

These are historical facts you can Google up.

Actually, I was surprised when I saw the documentary, but you can't know a person's history more than him. The documentary featured the Obi himself. His cabinet members were also interviewed, even the Onowu, who is the second in command to the Obi.

So, who are you or me to argue with them?
Oga Onitsha people re from Arochukwu in Abia state.

You are making up this story about Nri. And you will have to tell us what you mean by "documented".

I am not making it up, you can Google Nri yourself and read. Then Google Oba of Benin and look at the timelines of both.
Even the four market days (Eke, Orie, Afor, Nkwo) as marked by Nri is part of Bini culture albeit toned down.

The are not from Arochukwu actually though a lot of Aro people migrated upwards to present day Anambra state and have their presence in a lot of villages in proximity to Onitsha eg Abagana.

They are mostly descendants of Eze chima (King Chima #loose translation) who fled Benin following disagreements with the Oba at the time.

Pay attention to the moniker Eze and his name, meaning he was also a royalty of Igbo stock who's presence threatened that of the Oba leading to disagreements and expulsion of him and his followers. Thus his descendants also go by umuezechima (children of King Chima/Chukwuma).

Google is not your friend. There is no kingdom in West Africa which is older than Benin Kingdom. Sometimes you need to use your brain. Google is not your teacher, I am.
