Governor Amosun And His Loyalists To Dump APC by mackay37(m): 3:48am On Oct 11, 2018
Barring any last minute changes, Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and his loyalists in the All Progressives Congress (APC) will dump the ruling party.

Their imminent exit from the APC was as a result of the alleged refusal of the party’s national leadership to uphold the candidacy of the governor’s preferred candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, for the 2019 governorship election.

A meeting preparatory to Amosun’s defection was held on Wednesday night at his private residence located at Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.

In attendance at the meeting were APC members from the 20 local government areas of the state, who were loyal to the governor, as well as top government functionaries in the state.

The state chapter of APC had been engulfed in crisis following the adoption of an oil magnate, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for 2019 as against Amosun’s choice.

A highly placed source, who was present at the meeting on Wednesday night, confirmed the plan to pull out of the APC.

According to the source, Amosun briefed his loyalists on the outcome of his meetings with President Muhammadu Buhari as well as the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, which were not favourable.

The source said the governor informed his loyalists that rather than address the pending issue, the party leadership in Abuja asked him to share the National and State Assembly tickets with certain individuals in the state who never participated in the just concluded governorship and legislative primaries.

The governor was said to have berated those who manipulated the primary election to produce Abiodun as against the consensus governorship candidate of the party, Akinlade.

Amosun, the source added, made it clear that he could not work with Abiodun because he lacked the wherewithal to win elections.

According to him, Abiodun who could not win a senatorial district election in 2015 will be unable to win the whole of Ogun State in 2019.

The governor was said to have maintained his stance that he would bid APC goodbye rather than accept Abiodun’s candidacy.

He, however, did not disclose the particular political party he and his loyalists would consider.

Asked about the growing speculation that the governor is likely to defect to Accord Party, the source insisted that the governor was silent on his choice but only declared that his next sanctuary would not be the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

APC...
I thought this man is planning on going back to the Senate.

Why does he need to appoint/annoint a successor? He needs to remember that this is not a family title.

They sacked Kemi Adeosun and denied his Candidate the governoship ticket. Well done Oshio baba!. Oshiomole is helping PDP win.

Left to me, I think Dapo Abiodun needs Amosun more than Amosun needs him...because most of those in his corner so far are serial losers (they all lost out in various elective posts in 2015)...they can hardly help anyone win an House of Assembly election, not to talk of Governorship...d likes of Osoba are done politically.

If Amosun exits APC, APC won't win Ogun Guber next year...Amosun's new party will even have more chance of clinching it...provided he is not betrayed by those in his camp right now...or it might even play in GNI's favour if he plays his cards right.

Que sera sera, but as for me and my household o...there is no way on earth we are voting an Ogun East person...It's either Triple A or GNI...13 votes should count for something.

Guy, you so much believe in this Amosun, I told you the other time it's OVER for him.
It's a thing of Efun ati Edi.
It's spiritual.
His stubbornness and greed caused this.
He chased Yayi, Osoba, Kaka, Tinubu away, he wanted to become kingmaker.
Remember PPN of Daniel, same fate awaits him.

Even some of his consensus candidates and core supporters have said they won't leave APC.

Accord Party, I dey laff oooo.

All I know is Amosun's successor will not win come 2019, any other party should but not Mr Mavrodi.

Wa gba iyi. Coming from someone who knows the politics of Ogun state. Although that state has suffered and it was Amosun who gave it small light, but the guy could have done more and just focused in his local government alone. Anyways I wish him nothing

Most of the politicians supporting PMB are only doing so because they are afraid of PMB sending EFCC after them. PMBs aides has been subtutely sabotaging him. As we get closer to 2019, they will boldly show thier true colours.

Amosun should be reasonable. He is about to complete his second term in office and should realize that politics is dynamic, you win some you lose some. Obviously the party is polarized in the state. Sharing political office with rival factions is a mature way to keep the peace and remain relevant. Sanwo-Olu and Tinubu had to do that by accommodating and reaching out to Fouad Oki, Fashola, and Muiz Banire faction. For Buhari himself not to allow him to completely have his way should be enough to make him soft-pedal on his stubbornness. No permanent enemy in politics but permanent interest.

bros we are on this thread again grin grin grin... have you seen the ultimate greed of Amosun? share the slots with the remaining faction you say No, now you want to leave to Accord. See things will move against him. I don't know why you so much believe in Amosun, in any case GNI is also a good choice. It will be good for Ogun State if GNI wins and Atiku wins in Ogun State.

APC should expel him sharp sharp..they shouldn't make the mistake Pdp made by leaving Daniels when he tactically supported PPN. Whatever the outcome, Akinlade will never win. That alone gives me joy grin. Anybody else can win it...Dapo or GNI. I heard Ladi has been stopped by the court so that boosts Dapo's chances.

I spoke with some folks that know central well and they mentioned he cannot deliver the whole central sef....there are some dissent in ifo and some of the border towns. Anyway let us watch it play out.

Amosun killed the Yewa dream with his greed, you appointed Gov, deputy Gov and 40 other slots leaving others with just 1 house of rep seat.
How about you selecting Gov, allow Osoba appoint deputy, then share other slots.
But his greed nailed him

He'll never leave.
He might just threaten the party a bit since he has the party structure in Ogun Central and Ogun West in his pocket.

Amosun won't leave APC.

Thanks for bringing this up. Amosun himself terminated the Yewa dream through his emergence as governor then, against Daniel and Obasanjo's desire for a Yewa person to emerge either between GNI or Olurin then. This life can be so funny.

And that will be the end of Amosun in Ogun state politics.
He was nobody before joining ACN after many years of moving from one party to another.
He should not dig his own polical grave. Politics is about compromise. Win some, lose some.

Exactly. He tactically sidelined ACN bloc of the party. Forgetting he was a wanderer before Tinubu and Osoba accommodated him.

exactly, and the way he is going about it now, he is also jeopardizing their chances again by insisting it has to be his way or the highway. If yewa loses again it will be very ironic that the supposed Yewa Advocate, Amosun is its greatest enemy, spoiling their chances every time grin grin

Yewa people still haven't caught it that Amosun gangan is their main problem. We watch this drama play out.

Amosun won't work with Dapo Abiodun it's obvious and that will only divide the APC votes in 2019. This will be to the gain of GNI ADC candidate
