APGA Stakeholders Threaten To Dump APGA Over Imposition Of Cand by OrientDailyNews: 7:22am On Oct 11, 2018
By Francis Ekpone
All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) stakeholders in Idemili South local government area of Anambra State are set to dump the party following an alleged imposition of House of Assembly candidate, Hon Chuka Ezenwune on the constituents.
Orient Daily reports that Friday , October 5, 2018 House of Assembly primary election held in the council Area was declared inconclusive.
Some of the aspirants alleged that unknown delegates were imported to vote which led to the cancellation of the election but grape vine had it that the powers that be have anointed Ezenwune to fly the flag of the party, a move that sparked off protest.
Other seven House of Assembly aspirants and stakeholders from Idemili South protested against what they described as plot to impose one of the aspirants, Chuka Ezenwune on them.
The protesters led by Governor Willie Obiano‘s Senior Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation, Honestly Tony-Uche Ezekwelu, other aspirants and stakeholders matched to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) state sacretariate and Anambra State government house to register their grieviances.
They said the election that brought Hon Fabian Chuka Ezenwune as the candidate of the party in Idemili South was declared inconclusive and wondered why he should be announced winner of the election.

The protesters displayed placards of various inscriptions such as: Say no imposition of candidate in Idemili South, APGA says no to Ezenwune, With Ezenwune, APGA Will fail in Idemili South among others.
The party’s youth and women’s leaders, Mbaegbu Chukwuka and Mrs Ukamaka Igwilo said they will dump APGA if Hon Ezenwune is not dropped for a better candidate.
In the protest letter submitted to Gov Obiano at the APGA sacretariate, entitled : SOS: Rejection of Hon Fabian Chuka Ezenwune as our 2019 House of Assembly Candidate-a vote of no confidence, the protesters said Ezenwune failed as a lawmaker representing the constituency in the past three and half years.
They alleged that Ezenwune embezzled and appropriated N10 million meant for security and ward stakeholders mobilisation during November 18 governorship election in the state.
The petition which was signed by party stakeholders and seven aspirants reads in part :
” Hon Ezenwune, having failed woefully in all the indices of legislative performance as our representative, lacks moral justification standing to continue to represent us. He never hosted any single constituency town hall meeting.
“He never consulted his constituents in any matter pertaining our constituency and he takes unilateral decisions on our behalf without involving us in any way.
“He personally appropriates our constituency funds and projects to himself without any verifiable project in any of the twelve wards in Idemili South apart from the open shade in Afo Nnobi market and he never empowered any party faithful or continents in Idemili South and thus lacks the goodwill required of a winning candidate ” it said.
They however appealed to the party leadership to hearken to their request for a good candidate for Idemili South House of Assembly, saying that they will accept any other aspirant, than Ezenwune.
They were received at APGA Sacretariate by the State treasurer of the party, Mr Tony Nwakile while Gov Willie Obiano received them at the government House.
The Special Adviser to the governor on Political matters, Hon Ifeatu Obiokoye who received them on behalf of the governor assured them that their matter will be looked into.
He however advised them not to make use of information gotten from the social media as such could be misleading.
“We shall resolve whatever problem you have in Idemili South to continue our wining streak in the area” he said.

OWERRI—OVER 13 governorship aspirants under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, have started defecting to other political parties. Vanguard learnt yesterday that the new dimension followed the reported declaration of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume as the gubernatorial candidate of the party. This happened at a point the other governorship aspirants were at the concluding part of taking a stand on a consensus candidate after the primaries failed. The aspirants included immediate past governor of Imo state, Ikedi Ohakim; Frank Nneji, Bright Nwanne, Steve Nwoga, Sam Amadi and Okey Ezeh. APGA Others are Charles Onyeagbako, Zik Azike, Uche Onyeagucha, Ike Ibeh, Nick Opara Ndudi, Chike Nsofor, Philip Ibekwe,Obi Njoku and Stanley Amuchie. Vanguard was told that Mr Daniel Kanu was in support of Araraume’s candidature. As a result of the development, one of the governorship aspirants, immediate past governor of Imo state, Ikedi Ohakim, is said to have settled for Accord Party to pursue his governorship ambition. At the time of filling this report, some are joining Ohakim while others have initiated negotiation to pitch tent with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Social Democratic Party, SDP.. Before the declaration of Araraume’s candidature, the venue of the primaries was initially at Aladimma mall, but on the day Araraume was pronounced winner by a Returning Officer, Mrs. Eberechukwu Ejikeme, it took place at Kanu Nwankwo sport stadium in Owerri. On the day Araraume got the ticket, the committee was said to have arrived Owerri at about 9pm but scores of contestants claimed that they were not informed. Recall, the game to outwit each other in the primaries started on the 6th of October, and followed with protests. While on the 8th Araraume beat others to the game. Some believed that Araraume, who joined APGA, about three weeks to the primaries, had a good relationship with the National Working Committee, NWC, to have clinched the ticket. Peeved by the outcome of the primaries, Sam Amadi, said: “The plot to impose candidate must be resisted. We have resolved to present a consensus candidate. We will come out with our position and let the public know our stand.” Also Okey Ezeh, “No election took place he only declared himself winner of the primary with the support of his supporters, thugs and militants at the sports centre in Owerri.”

Apga has lost it, imagine imposing Ifeanyi Ararume as gubernatorial candidate for Imo state as against having Sam Amadi or Frank Nneji as the candidate. Apga goes for the highest bidder, that's why the party is not growing as it should be in south east

That's the new trend now. Once things don't go ur way in a party, the next is to dump the party.

All parties in Nigeria have this same problem.
