Troops Repel Boko Haram Terrorists attack at Bita.
Vigilant troops of 114 Battalion of the Nigerian Army at about 8 p.m yesterday 6 Oct 18 engaged Some elements of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) who attempted to infiltrate their location along Damboa Axis in Borno State. The BHTs were completed routed by the troops and they fled in disarray due to superior firepower.

However, Two of the terrorist were neutralized while others fled with gunshot wounds. The COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai has commended the gallant troops and urged them to continue further exploitation of the area to capture the fleeing BHTs.

ENHANCING PROFESSIONALISM IN THE NIGERIAN ARMY: ARMY WARRANT OFFICERS TO HAVE STAFF CARS SOON

The twenty nine (29) recently promoted Nigerian Army (NA), Army Warrant Officers (AWO) will soon benefit from the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai's deliberate effort at enhancing professionalism and responsiveness in the NA.

This was disclosed by the General Officer Commanding 82 Division NA, Major General Emmanuel Kabuk after a courtesy visit to Innoson Motors/Vehicles Manufacturing Plant at Nnewi, Anambra State on Friday the 5th of October 2018.

The GOC was received and conducted round the Plant by the Founder and Chairman of the company, Chief Dr Innoson Chukwuma and some of the top management staff.

The GOC while at the company headquarters, demanded to know the progress done so far in the manufacture of the 29 modern hilux vehicles ordered for by the NA, for the recently promoted NA, AWO. The GOC also demanded to know when the vehicles will be ready and what will be the maintenance plan when they are finally delivered to the NA.

In his response, Dr Innoson assured the NA that the vehicles will be ready in the next 2 weeks.
He also promised that his company is ready to accommodate, train and feed ten (10) NA technicians in the factory so as to prepare them to handle timely and effective maintenance of the vehicles in the NA. Dr Innocent Chukwuma thanked the Chief of Army Staff for the patronage so far. He added that he looks forward to more effective collaboration between his company and the Nigerian Army.

The Commander 302 Artillery Regiment Onitsha, Commanders of 82 Military Intelligence Brigade and 82 Division Provost Group as well as the Deputy Director Public Relations 82 Division accompanied the GOC during the visit.

Update on BHT Attack in Metele.. Gallant troops of 157 Battalion decisively engaged BHTs who attempted to overrun their Position in Metele near Kangarwa in Borno State. The sustained superior firepower of the troops led to the neutralization of 76 BHTs.
Unfortunately, the NA lost 7 soldiers while 16 were wounded in action. The #COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai has commiserated with the families of the deceased and directed that the wounded be given adequate medical attention. Details later.

Just in. Troops of 22 Brigade Garrison Infiltrate BHT Camp in kaltunbare Borno State.
Gallant troops of 22 Brigade Garrison Dikwa supported by vigilantes, on deliberate offensive patrol, infiltrated a BHT camp at Kaltunbare in Borno State on 10 October 2018.

During the encounter 3 BHTs were neutralized while others escaped with gunshot wounds. 2 minors were also rescued. The COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai has commended the gallant troops and urged them to continue carrying out raids,deliberate patrols and attacks to decimate the remnants of BHTs in the North East. NAF DESTROYS BOKO HARAM TERRORIST TRAINING CAMP IN MALKONORY, TAKES OUT GUN TRUCK NEAR TUMBUN REGO IN BORNO STATE

The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has decimated a Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) Training Camp in Malkonory and also destroyed a BHT vehicle near Tumbun Rego in Northern Borno State. The attack on the Training Camp was undertaken today, 11 October 2018, on the heels of credible intelligence reports indicating that several structures, cleverly camouflaged under thick vegetation in the settlement, were being used to harbour and train BHT fighters. A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform subsequently confirmed features such as training dummies and trenches along with a large number of adult males within the camp. Consequently, the ATF detailed NAF Alpha Jet aircraft to attack the camp in successive strikes resulting in the destruction of many of the structures, which were seen to be engulfed in flames, as well as the neutralization of several BHTs. The few surviving BHTs were mopped-up in subsequent follow-on attacks.

Similarly, following Intelligence reports indicating the presence of BHT vehicles on the move around Matari Village along the Metele-Kangarawa-Tumbun Rego axis on 9 October 2018, a NAF ISR platform was detailed to reconnoitre the area and subsequently spotted one of the BHT vehicles, a gun truck, along the road heading towards Tumbun Rego. Accordingly, an Alpha Jet aircraft was scrambled to attack the vehicle, with direct hits recorded on the target, leading to the destruction of the gun truck.

The NAF, working in concert with surface forces, will sustain the momentum of operations with a view to destroying remnants of the BHTs on the fringes of Lake Chad and other areas in Northern Borno.

ARMY ASSURES PERSONNEL OF WELFARE

1. Troops of 7 Division deployed in operation LAFIYA DOLE Sector One, have been assured of provision of adequate welfare packages at all times while discharging their constitutional roles. The Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division, gave the assurance during his operational visit to 28 Task Force Brigade Area of Responsibility.

2. He further stated that the operational visit to Chibok, Askira, Michika, and Madagali was intended to assess the combat readiness of the troops and review tactics and strategies that will see to the total defeat of Boko Haram Terrorists. He also assured the troops of the Chief of Army Staff's effort at addressing most of their welfare issues, adding that he has already approved the distribution of uniforms to formations and units.

3. He re-emphasised that, the ongoing rotation of troops of Operation LAFOYA DOLE will continue in line with the Nigerian Army policy and assured them of prompt rotation when due.
He pointed out that, the war against Boko Haram Terrorists must be concluded soon and charged the troops to be prepared to make sacrifices remain prayerful, motivated and step up their game so as to consolidate on the gains so far made in the fight against terrorists.

4. He also emphasised the importance of prayers in all endeavours and requested the Deputy Director Islamic Affairs and Deputy Director Chaplain Services (Protestant), to offer prayers for the troops and the success of the operation in all locations visited.

5. The Acting GOC was received and conducted round the 28 Task Force Brigade locations by the Commander. He was accompanied by the Commander 47 Engineer Brigade, Combat Service Commanders as well as Principal Staff Officers.

It was a dawn #ISIS attack today on a Chadian army encampment in Kaiga Kindji Tchad near the border with Niger republique. About 40 Jihadists were killed but unfortunately the Tchadians lost 8 soldiers with 11 others critically wounded. Nigerian Airstrikes pushing them northwards

Just in. Troops of 112 Task Force Battalion Neutralize BHT in Ajiri Borno State: Gallant Troops of 112 Task Force Battalion carried out a fighting patrol between Bale junction and Ajiri in Borno state on 11 October 2018.

The area is believed to be a sleeper cell of Boko Haram terrorists for hibernating. The patrol team engaged the terrorists and neutralized two of them, recovering One bicycle, clothing and foodstuffs.

NAF EXTENDS MEDICAL OUTREACH TO FLOOD VICTIMS IN BAYELSA STATE

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has extended its medical and surgical outreach to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Igbogene Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area (LGA) of Bayelsa State. This is in furtherance of the NAF’s humanitarian efforts geared towards alleviating the suffering of the victims of the recent flood disaster caused by heavy rainfall in parts of the Country. The medical outreach, which commenced 11 October 2018, is expected to last for 5 days and would cater to the medical needs of about 4,000 persons including women, children and the aged. The initiative followed the directive by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, to the NAF Medical Services Branch to immediately find means of assuaging the suffering of the victims of the unfortunate flood disaster.

While speaking during the opening ceremony, the Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command (AOC MC), Air Vice Marshal Napoleon Bali, who represented the CAS, stated that the NAF would always be ready to deploy its resources to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians. He encouraged the IDPs to take advantage of the high quality, free medical services that would be provided. He added that general and eye surgeries would be conducted at the NAF Medical Centre in Yenagoa. He used the opportunity to thank the CAS for providing the needed resources for the outreach.

The leader of the Medical Team and Director of Public Health and Humanitarian Services, Headquarters NAF, Group Captain Azubuike Chukwuka, explained further that the medical outreach was being undertaken as part of NAF’s constitutional role of providing military aid to civil authority. Some of the beneficiaries of the outreach, which also had officials from the Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency, State Ministry of Health and Nigerian Red Cross Society in attendance, expressed their appreciation to the NAF for coming to their aid. Services that would be provided during the 5-day medical outreach include free medical consultations and drugs, laboratory investigations, prescription eyeglasses, treated mosquito nets as well as general and eye surgeries, for those with conditions requiring minor surgical interventions. It would be recalled that the NAF recently conducted medical outreaches for flood victims at Zungeru in Wushishi Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State and Jibia in Jibia LGA of Katsina State, with over 5,000 persons benefiting.

Al-Shabab terrorists claimed to have executed one Briton and three Americans that it accused of spying on Tuesday.
The Somali militant group announced the killings on its Andalus radio station, saying they were carried out in a public square in Jilib town in Middle Jubba region.
