The Director General of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has given reasons why Mr. Peter Obi was picked as the running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar.

The 57-year-old Obi was a former governor of Anambra State and a former Chairman of Fidelity Bank Plc.

In a statement on Friday, Daniel said Mr. Obi’s choice was largely influenced by his youthfulness, vast knowledge of global and local economics as well as being a financial expert, all experience which Nigeria is in great need at this point in time.

“This ticket will be able to steer our nation back on the path of progress, economic prosperity and unity”, Daniel said.

Born 19th July, 1961, Obi attended the Christ the King College, Onitsha and later proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.

The statement continued, “He is also a graduate of several international and national institutions such as the Lagos Business School, Harvard Business School, London School of Economics, Columbia Business School, Institute of Management, Switzerland, Kellogg Graduate School, Oxford University and Cambridge University.

“In public service, he has led various divisions some of which includes: Member, Presidential Economic Management Team; Vice-Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum; Chairman, South-East Governors’ Forum, and the Governor of Anambra State.

“Peter Obi is an astute professional who has laid his footprints across the corporate world. He was the Chairman, Board of Security and Exchange Commission (SEC); former Chairman, Fidelity Bank PLC; former Chairman, Guardian Express Mortgage Bank; former Chairman, Future Views Securities; former Chairman, Paymaster Nigeria; former Chairman, Next International Nigeria; former Director, Guardian Express Bank PLC; former Director, Chams Nigeria PLC; former Director, Emerging Capital: former Director, Card Centre PLC.

“He is a member of the British Institute of Directors (IOD), Nigerian Chartered Institute of Bankers and Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).

Peter Obi was Special Adviser to Jonathan on Economy in addition to being the Anambra Governor at the time Nigeria made the highest revenue in Africa but did not save one kobo but everything was looted and they borrowed heavily.

Buhari's earliest 2 fiats unavoidably led to recession. Anybody that knows even the basics in finance and economy knew that the recession was going to come following those 2 fiats.

1. Sudden & complete implementation of Treasury single account. It's well known that it would cause a shock on the economy... reason the previous administration planned a gradual process of introducing it. But Buhari came in with a fiat within his first 2months in office and the uninformed were hailing his body language turned body odour.

2. Fiat on domiciliary accounts.... within his first 3 months in office. This led to capital flight especially of FDI. foreign direct investment. Foreigners withdrew their money from NSE...stock plummeted, recession followed. PMB later reversed this but the mistake was already made. capital has flown out . Recession was as sure as death is sure for everyone.
CBN swing into crisis management with their ill-fated Exchange rate "list of 41 items" which just like soludo predicted would worsen the situation as Bereue De change used the opportunity to suck them dry worsening an already terrible situation.

Know this today. PMB's first 2 decisions/blunders led to recession. Forget all the propaganda. Those that know know.

I am against APC but I must tell the truth.

Peter Obi is a massive mistake and only people blinded by tribalism will disagree.

Atiku had to pick from SW. PDP will not have a Governor or major Senator from the SW.

PDP basically has NO Yoruba representation. Atiku might as well not even campaign there because it will be a waste of resources.

This is a huge error and I'm saddened because it means four more years of Buhari. SE was always going to vote PDP. This was the opportunity to split SW further. Instead SW will vote overwhelmingly for APC like Kano and the election will be over before it even starts.

If only people liked at the reality instead of focusing on tribe.
