MuttleyLaff: Spirit is the immaterial essence of the material (body). The spirit is the power source of the unconscious body. Spirit here is the breath of life. Spirit is the energy source of the lifeless body. In conclusion spirit is the most important component. It was only when God added this vital component to the dust(body) Adam became animated (a living soul) 1 Like |

Maamin: Good morning sir. I came across this scripture and it truly made me know I need more clarity. Luke 10:25-28 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” 27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” I was surprised the mind was separated from the soul. I used to think they were more or less the same. Can you help disambiguate between Spirit, Soul, Mind and Heart. Thanks. |
Re: The Greater Between Jesus And Holy Spirit ? by Originakalokalo(m): 9:22am On Nov 15, 2018 |
Maamin: No sir.. The soul is not "the entire package" From that equation in your post, if you remove the body at death, you have only the spirit remaining..... The spirit goes back to God (scriptural). So, what is judged then ? nothing ? The soul is judged...The soul of a sinner goes to hell while that of a child of God goes to heaven. Take a closer look at this: " For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4: 12) Did you see spirit and soul there ? We find it difficult to explain the separation of the spirit and soul... did you notice "EVEN to the dividing asunder of the spirit and soul?" It is very difficult to separate this two...They are only separated at death..... But the word of God can locate the division line... |

pressplay411: It is not separated per say, it only telling that you must love the Lord your God with all that makes you up. The mind is part of the soul the soul is life(Spirit), the heart beats because of this life, having life in you is having strength (power, energy). They are related mutually. Is like saying Me, myself, I. I'm still referring to myself in my very entirety. Not different substance. 1 Like |

We worship one God in the Trinity and the Trinity in unity. Neither confounding the Persons, nor dividing the substance. For there is one person of the Father, another of the Son, another of the Holy Spirit. But the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit have one divinity, equal glory, and coeternal majesty. What the Father is, the Son is, and the Holy Spirit is. The Father is uncreated, the Son is uncreated, and the Holy Spirit is uncreated. The Father is boundless, the Son is boundless, and the Holy Spirit is boundless. The Father is eternal, the Son is eternal, and the Holy Spirit is eternal. Nevertheless, there are not three eternal beings, but one eternal being. So there are not three uncreated beings, nor three boundless beings, but one uncreated being and one boundless being. Likewise, the Father is omnipotent, the Son is omnipotent, the Holy Spirit is omnipotent. Yet there are not three omnipotent beings, but one omnipotent being. Thus the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. However, there are not three gods, but one God. The Father is Lord, the Son is Lord, and the Holy Spirit is Lord. However, there as not three lords, but one Lord. For as we are obliged by Christian truth to acknowledge every Person singly to be God and Lord, so too are we forbidden by the Catholic religion to say that there are three Gods or Lords. The Father was not made, nor created, nor generated by anyone. The Son is not made, nor created, but begotten by the Father alone. The Holy Spirit is not made, nor created, nor generated, but proceeds from the Father and the Son. There is, then, one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three sons; one Holy Spirit, not three holy spirits. In this Trinity, there is nothing before or after, nothing greater or less. The entire three Persons are coeternal and coequal with one another. So that in all things, as is has been said above, the Unity is to be worshipped in Trinity and the Trinity in Unity. He, therefore, who wishes to be saved, must believe thus about the Trinity. It is also necessary for eternal salvation that he believes steadfastly in the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thus the right faith is that we believe and confess that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is both God and man. As God, He was begotten of the substance of the Father before time; as man, He was born in time of the substance of His Mother. He is perfect God; and He is perfect man, with a rational soul and human flesh. He is equal to the Father in His divinity, but inferior to the Father in His humanity. Although He is God and man, He is not two, but one Christ. And He is one, not because His divinity was changed into flesh, but because His humanity was assumed unto God. He is one, not by a mingling of substances, but by unity of person. As a rational soul and flesh are one man: so God and man are one Christ. He died for our salvation, descended into hell, and rose from the dead on the third day. He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. At His coming, all men are to arise with their own bodies; and they are to give an account of their own deeds. Those who have done good deeds will go into eternal life; those who have done evil will go into the everlasting fire. This is the Catholic faith. Everyone must believe it, firmly and steadfastly. Amen. 1 Like |

grandstar:Do you have these verses in your Bible? Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16... This is where Jesus says He is the Holy Spirit. [b] will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John:14:18 You mean the Holy Spirit is not a person yet 'It speaks?'. Matt. 10: 19-20. Do you know you need a mouth to speak? The Holy Spirit is a force, yet 'It' is a helper? Jon 14:26. The Holy Spirit is not a person but 'it' is a teacher? Luke 12:'12. Do you know you need intellect, decrement and understanding to teach or impart knowledge to another person? The Holy Spirit which is just a force teaches, acts as an advocate, a lawyer or defender. it guides, directs and brings to remembrance. The. Lord Jesus called the Holy Spirit Him, Charles Tass Resell called him IT. Who is insane here? 2 Likes 1 Share |

[quote author=Originakalokalo post=72986525] No sir.. Ecc 12:7, 9:5-6, 3:19 all talks about what happens at death and it does not involve immediate judgment. All are dead and awaits to be resurrected on judgment day for their reward either good or bad. By the grace of God. Jesus made it clear that no one has ever ascended to heaven nor descended from heaven except him. The body and soul will be raised on the last day when the spirit is United into a body at resurrection for judgement. The soul, body and spirit is complex, the word of God simply laying emphasis on how strong and true the word is that it can judge (divide) through the most complex bond of human as a living creature and set apart. There are verses that address soul as the entire living creature, as the mind and consciousness of a living thing, as the life of a living thing, as the immaterial part of a living being, and so many other instances. |

Anas09: With the bolded, where does the idea of trinity comes from anyway? What is the point of believing in trinity if the Bible didn't even mentioned or gave any such idea?. |
Re: The Greater Between Jesus And Holy Spirit ? by Anas09: 3:13pm On Nov 15, 2018 |
Maamin:It does, but you choose not to see it. That the Word TRINITY IS NOT EXPLICITLY MENTIONED doesn't mean it's not there. Take the Word of God literally and you remain at the material level. Jesus talked about Trinity when he said he came FROM the Father and is going back to the Father. He said Him and the Father are One. If you have seen me, you have seen the Father. Meaning, They are Distinguishable but not divisible. What does this mean? For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John:5:7 This ^^^ is in Heaven, but how does this work in a material earth? Let me try to explain this by using Reality and Manifestation. (What is real but you can't see it until it takes a form). Reality is substantial, while Manifestation is Form; material or physical. The Reality of a thing is the Essence of that thing. Whatever is Real will remain hidden (to man), unless it is manifested in a form. Hebrews 1:1 tells us that Jesus is the exact image of YHWH, and in the old times, the Prophets only dealt with His divine Essence. He was present, but not in a form, but now, He has decided to pour His essence into a receptacle which is given a name, Jesus; which still means 'The Salvation' of Jehovah. And He said, If you are imagining how YHWH looks, here i am. For I and the Father One. Jehovah is God in Essence, Jesus is God in manifestation and the Holy Spirit is the Emanation of the Reality and the Manifestation of YHWH. His Essence could not indwell humans permanently, His body could only be with us physically, but He intended to indwell us, because if he does, demons will no longer have access to posses and destroy us from within. So His Spirit is indwelling us forever. This is hard, very hard for anyone who thinks with his eyes and not from his mind. Try to think from your mind, you'd understand what i just said, but if you remain at the level of only what you can see, then... |

The breath of life is what powers up all this organs (engine) of the body to carry out their functions to keep the flesh alive. The mind is more or less the soul. "And man became a living soul" that is a living consciousness. My prior knowledge is that the soul contains the mind and is the seat of intellect and decision-making. You are not wrong in anyway by saying that, the soul itself is the human senses and consciousness. You must have heard people ask "have you list you mind?" that is like saying "have you lost your sanity or senses". The senses and intellect comes alive when the spirit enters the body. Take for instance a light bulb(body), without electrical current(spirit, life) the bulb does not lit (come alive as a soul). The light in other words does not exist anywhere prior to the electrical current that brings the light up when it flows into the bulb. The moment the current is switched off the light (soul, mind or consciousness) cease to be once again. When it is turned on the bulb shines. |

Shelumiel: Well said. I've come to realise it's difficult to explain the Holy Spirit to anyone who still sees "him" as "it." I pray we all have more understanding. I recently realised when Jesus Christ was referring to the Holy spirit, He refered to him as Father. We just have to study John 14 and pray for Rhema. |
