Also, when it comes to catchment state, they use Educationally Less Developed states ish.

Someone from a very local lga has a higher chance of getting than you. Example.

I scored 212, I applied from Kwara State, Offa LGA, I got deflected to Agric Engineering...
He scored 180 something, can't remember, applied from Kwara, Kaiama LGA, he got it.

People from his locality aren't so much educated, compared to those from mine, so, the little ones who want to study are always given the chance to, in hope they can develop their places. I hope you get me?
Very well sir, I get u.... I really appreciate, more power to ur elbow...
Bt on d issue of being d highest scorer for d course frm one state!! This is serious..
Wot can u say abt an average of 304, Civil engineering, Oyo State? any chance? Wot if one or two candidate frm my state hav higher aggregate, will I b given anoda course?

Bruh, I'm telling you, if you get 399, if someone gets 400,and you're both competing, he gets ahead of you.

A friend currently in 300 lvl, civil, lost by 1 mark, the following year, he beat the nearest guy by 1 mark also. Now, if you're going to be given another course? I don't know about that. I don't know criteria behind that

I dunno about other schools, but I can proudly tell you, we're one of the schools who prioritize merit most...

Yes, some people get high score and are not admitted, while others get low score and are admitted. It's a normal occurrence. All you have to do get a score higher than everyone who applied for the course in your state. Simple isn't it? But complicated also, truthfully.

You could get 257, and someone else gets 258, the person is in pole position ahead of you, someone else from another state would get 185, and is the only aspirant from his state, unarguably, the person would get admitted. Now, that's where the lamentations come.

Imagine, I got 257, and didn't get admitted, someone else got 185 and got admitted. Connection, connection, bla bla.

Those whom are from the catchment areas have higher chances of being admitted, because they can take as many as they choose, 5, 6 whatever amount.

My class for example, there are 2 Kwara students, but only 1 ogun student, only one Edo student. You get now? Those from non catchment have to battle it out for just one spot, so, someone can get 180 and get admitted, yet, you who scored 250+ may not get admitted. All you should put in your mind is, get as high as possible and try to beat everyone from your state and you'd be rest assured. Like I mentioned, they take as many as they wish from catchment states.

At 100 lvl, my class had 2 students from Kwara, civil engineering had at least 5, mechanical had about 3 or thereabouts. Civil engineering itself has about 7/8 students from Kogi, same with mechanical, but my department had just 1. So, it's not about favoritism or anything, it's about the protocol they follow, don't let anyone lie to you that they favor Hausa's more too.

Kwara, Kogi and Benue are 3 of 5 most populous students in ABU Zaria, I'm pretty sure none of them is an Hausa or Muslim state
Sir, thanks for this vivid explanation, it is really eye opening I must say. Sir, can u please enlighten me concerning Direct entry admission, since they don't write exams, what is the criteria? You can narrow it down to engineering. Thanks in anticipation.

Honestly speaking, I don't know the criterion behind it. Asides from the minimum requirements of upper class.

It was this semester I realized that my mate who joined us in 200 lvl, actually graduated with upper-class HND, he applied for special admissions, he was supposed to get 300 lvl, but he got 200 lvl instead, and he's from Katsina. So yeah, I was shocked, but I saw his admission letter and know, there's no lie behind it

Hello my fellow aspirants. I, like every other ABU aspirant is highly perturbed about his/her fate. I embarked on a research about the admission statistics of last year and I came up with 3 key points:
1. The PUTME results for the 2017/2018 session were released on October 9th. The admission list was released on December 7th, 58 days after the exam. Although I can't recall the exact day we saw ours, but on a conservative measure, the list for this year is likely to be released in the first week of November. This means we have less than 35 days to see ours. (Source: Nairaland Forum)
2. Last year, only about 25% of the 89,688 candidates who applied for the Ahmadu Bello University were admitted. This year, however, 74,635 candidates applied for ABU, with a difference of 15,053 candidates from last year's. Whilst it is likely only 25% or more will be admitted, I'll urge you all to be prayerful. (Source: JAMB, Pulse.ng)
3. Like one's JAMB score does not determine one's chances, the JAMB CAPS won't determine your chances as well. Although, about 98% of those who were admitted through the JAMB CAPS were admitted by the Ahmadu Bello University. But fear not because many candidates whose names were not on the JAMB CAPS were eventually admitted by ABU. (Source: Myschool)
