The Nigerian Army Opens New Cyber Warfare Command. by Nobody: 3:19am On Oct 16, 2018
The Nigerian Army's 21st century modernization program continues to gather steam as the Army today commissioned the Nigerian Army Cyber Command at the Army headquarters in Abuja.

The Nigerian Cyber Command is being built to supersede that of any country in Africa by building a unit capable of fighting such a large-scale conflict at a time when Nigeria’s sizable military is striving to excel in the digital domain. A feat that seemed unattainable a decade ago.

In keeping with the military's obsession on secrecy, littler is known about the new military sub-service, which combines the government’s desire to develop innovative asymmetric warfare capabilities and remotely collect intelligence stored on electronic devices.

The Nigerian military is averse on sharing information with the public, hence at this point, it’s difficult to come up with a credible estimate of the number of personnel in or budget for the newest sub-service of the Nigerian military. However given the apparent scope and scale, as well as the importance of these missions, there are possibilities that a large chunk will be staffed by non military computed specialists

Though Egypt, Algeria and South Africa have existing cyber command structures, Nigeria is rapidly catching up by following a drastically different model.

In the wake of Amnesty International's relentless smear campaign, lies and disinformation against the Nigerian Army. Lies that includes allegations of child soldiers being used by the army, soldiers raping thousands of women, presence of ISIS in Nigeria etc, there are unconfirmed reports that the Army Cyber Command will be responsible for conducting many of Nigeria’s most sensitive cyber-espionage and propaganda missions.

Hi DDGN what is the update on this?

I have been following your post keenly, I hope the army gets this right.

With such command centers in place, we can monitor our cyberspace closely, heck even have a WAF and a single point firewall for all traffic in and out of the country...

Myndd44 lalasticlala, these are the kind of post we should be seeing on the front page!

What cyber warfare? Is Nigeria being attacked by another country through the internet?! Is it even the job of the army to fight cyber crime?
Re: The Nigerian Army Opens New Cyber Warfare Command. by KrystosCJ(m): 9:50am On Nov 19, 2018
Nigeria is rapidly catching up by following a drastically different model.

When I see the word drastic, I feel pretty sure that this cyber warfare structure cannot be sustainable. In the end, they just want to justify more spending on security (without any meaningful results or impact), and less on education and mass literacy.

My brother e weak me too. We've refused to invest in human capacity development and jump into the band wagon of trending technologies to further tell the world how inadequate and unprepared we are.

When was the last independent satellite launch? The country modified network platform? Are they aware the INTERNET is property of the American military? What global positioning system do they have control over? So what exactly is the command for, TWITTER & FACEBOOK?
