I have never used a carrier, that's why i said i make my hand luggage as free as possible, so i can shuffle him around and not worry about his weight. Some people use carrier sha but i don't know how they breastfeed or of baby is left in the carrier all through.

Okay sis, thank you.

I understand that and wasn't referring to invasive tests, even observation of the child and his mannerisms is a test. You have to monitor his movement milestones over a couple of months to come up with a suspicion of CP, it shouldn't be diagnosed on the basis of 1 hospital visit and certainly not because of not crawling. That's why I said she should seek a second opinion to calm herself down

How you dey though? Been a minute

Graciouscharis:

Actually, there's no test like lab test required to diagnose cerebral palsy. Doctors look at patients history, physical observation and statement from the mom to infer.
There's also no treatment for that. It's only interventions like therapies to help the child overcome the delays. Like all neurological disorder, Cerebral palsy is so wide that even the doctors get confused sometimes. Do you know that some people have but don't know because they can walk and talk but there are salient things we overlook that they can't do because of cp.

Calm down madam. Take a deep breath and listen.
Cerebral palsy is not a form of mental/intellectual impairment. I know that there are severe cases. Having a form of cerebral palsy does not mean you cannot walk or do some certain things it just depends on the severity.
There are lots of people that are living with cp, they were not diagnosed but it still doesn't change the fact that they have it.
When a baby is jaundiced to the extent that there's blood transfusion, most times it affects their development. It can come in the form of delay, poor eyesight or something.

Your doctor may be wrong but please don't fold your hands and do nothing and just say you are rejecting it. With the severe jaundice he had, you have to be proactive in seeking for intervention.

Does your son bear weight on his legs? Does the legs shake or is wobbly when he's put to stand? Please sincerely answer these questions.

If you have any concerns with the above asked questions and you are in Lagos, you can take him to Igbobi or luth and request to see a neurological paed. I mentioned igbobi because I know they do assessment. Do the assessment and start therapy if there's need for it. Early intervention is key.

I will suggest you buy omega 3,6,and 9 and vitamin b complex. Give him the right dosage. Please don't overdose it. Use Shea butter to massage the legs and brush his feet with these hair brushes. As much as you can give him fresh foods, vegetables and fruits. Avoid processed and tinned foods.

Your prayer point should be that he is not limited by jaundice or whatever diagnosis by the doctors. Please, if things doesn't work out the way you expect It, do not lose faith. It doesn't change the fact that God is God nor changes or diminishes his love for you and your baby. It only means that he is one of the special treasure sent by God to you, love him scatter and. Nurture him. They give the best hugs and are very sweet.

Please, I am not concluding that the doctor is right but I want to broaden your mind and maybe enlighten you a little. I believe in prayers and know that praying a right is key. If you reject the reality you end up being frustrated. The best time to reject and cancel jaundice and it's effect is when the baby is still in the womb.

I just saw where you stated that he butt shuffles, most times children like that don't crawl before walking. You can try out my suggestions.
Thank you ma'am for taking time to school me, I'm very grateful. He bears weight on his legs, his legs does not shake neither do they wobble, he stands on his own holding on to furniture, he loves it a lot so I do more of that. For his food, He takes like 6-8 fingers of banana a day cos that's what I add to his pap instead of milk, he does not eat processed food. He drinks his milk 3times a day, warm milk in d morning, cold in d afternoon cos of d weather n warm at night. He's already on calcium syrup. I'm glad to tell you he just started crawling. wish I could hug you right now.

the doctor diagnosed him based on the fact that he was yet to start cruising around. He didn't mention cerebral palsy at first until I told him he was seriously jaundiced at birth n the doctor in charge of him already told me to watch him closely that he might have CB. it was after my explanation he just concluded he has CB. So I spoke with a neurologist yesterday and he told me my boy was fine even though he didn't examine him, we spoke on d phone. He said everything I said about him does not show sign of CB, that he was seriously jaundiced doesn't mean he will have CB. then the little man started crawling and scattering this morning, I'm already tired of screaming.....Lol

I was at the salon when I read this. I was smiling and shading tears at the same. I'm super excited for you.
I get very emotional when I hear jaundice or cp. I had similar experience and I don't wish it for my enemy.

Please take good care of him. You can include Titus fish and carrots in his meals. I used to blend them and add to my son's cereals. Have a great evening.

Congratulations to you...the midwives are right. Its likely she hasn't started lactating.
In the meantime you can give the baby formula.

Her puree do u add groundnuts? Groundnut is known to cause allergy. Do u give her Tom brown? Or add groundnut in her pap?

Your curtains, wash them as often as possible. Dust is a factor too.

Then some children outgrow it.
Now any growth we are recording is after a coughing episode. Even to get taller, she can cough for two days. I don't know how it's connected. Even to grow teeth, she will cough n tire.
Just be strong for her, and don't expose her to dust, smoke, frying or cold. With time u will pin point Wat triggers it for her.

Ours was so severe that we did X-ray. And nothing was found. She will alright.

Insecticide is a big irritant. We have the same issue. Bronchitis and what you're describing means you should be quite careful, you may have a child that is prone to some upper respiratory illnesses. Nothing to be worried about, they usually outgrow it, you also have to watch out for Sinusitis. Doctors don't diagnose Asthma before the age of 2, but they will treat it. I advise you get a hospital with a Paediatrician who comes in daily. And ask the Paediatrician what his/her specialty is in. It helps if they know a pulmonologist or Thoracic physician. They're rare.
