I was curious and I went through the @Tumise100's posts.
Now I wish Trump immigration policy be effective in him as such that when he finishes his studies, he find himself having to go back to Nigeria or stay and be out of status. Thankfully, company sponsorship of H1b is at all time low. Now, let's see how he like it now.

#MAGA grin grin.

PS: idiots supports policies or ideologies against their own interests.

Lol, I remeber watching the news, of American citzens who voted for trump, whose spouses were now being deported. They were crying so hard , I guess they thought the rules did not apply to them.

I saw it too.

Majority of Americans don't really understand how immigration issues works. I've heard Americans say "why can't they apply for citizenship". I smh everytime.

I have to tell people I am a permanent resident and not citizen, yet some people can't distinguish between the two.

A lot of people do not understand how the American immigration system works including some people who work at the immigration and even immigration lawyers, they are the worst . Even Donald trump has put out some false information about immigration. Americans also exclaim that people should get in line for citizenship but for some people , there is simply no line. Video below gives a simple explanation on immigrating to America.

I am not sure I said I was Applying..
I must have said, I'd rather shun internships and co-ops, concentrate on graduating and focus on fulltime job search.

STEM courses are touted to be more advantageous.
1. The world is technology driven, USA has a Very big economy.
2. The people that own the country are more likely to get a job in humanities than you would. They like soft werk.
If you no do the hard engineering jobs, who go do am?

Don't tell me I won't be getting that of 10 years.. shocked

I am not ready for this process in another 25 years.
Re: Naija to Yankee Thoughts And Experiences by MackyNaija(m): 2:53pm On Oct 16, 2018

My plans have changed and I am no longer interested in internships.
I need to graduate and face a fulltime search instead since I have realised that proper packaging of my naija experience will go a long way + a few plugins and add ons and everything will align properly.

Predstan, this was what I said. ^^^
It hasn't changed.

I don edit my resume like 40 times in 14 months... NoJokes.
It started working well in May towards the end of the last semester as I started getting calls for internship interviews, I have done 4 more resume fine-tunings.

The hustle is real.

You'll need to be more detailed concerning the loan part.

How much are you borrowing?
What's the cost of your school fees and living expenses?
If you have enough to cover your entire cost, no need to fear anything.

Nigerians toooo fear to borrow money, I just collected half of the $12k, I deh even find more to borrow. cheesy
Re: Naija to Yankee Thoughts And Experiences by MackyNaija(m): 3:50pm On Oct 16, 2018
Done at the Consulate, no issues.
Start to finish was 1hour 15mins - I came verrry early.

Too many redundant activities, doesn't take up to 20mins for the actual process.

I went at 7.30am so I was second to arrive, someone jumped the queue so I was top 5 to go in. Wait at gate starting from 9am, =>30mins.

When you enter, they collect your paperwork and passport and create a file for you. <5mins.

You sit and wait for biometrics. Time wastage. >20mins.

Get into Backup biometrics room and wait. >10mins. Before or At this step, you'll fill a single line of info into a 'ledger'.

Actual biometrics <5mins. Your photo capture and finger prints.

Actual time used including sensible wait times = 20mins.
All other time is unnecessary waste from workers jisting and doing nothing.

I don't think upto 50people go there daily.
Na soft werk for that consulate. Someone please report them to At1Ku. tongue cheesy

I also renewed my Passport at the Nigerian Consulate in Atlanta Georgia around September last year.

I paid an extra $60 for expedited processing.

So I ended up spending a night at Comfort inn around Market Blvd in Roswell Atlanta.

Very Cheap hotel with a Nice Breakfast. I only paid about $80 for the night.

I went back to the Consulate the following morning around 10:00 AM and my passport was ready for pick up.

I picked up my Passport and headed straight to the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport to catch my flight back to New York City.

Just be extra cautious when borrowing money.

You don't wanna be stuck in a cycle of paying back debts.

When you're unable to pay back those debts they become deliquent and your credit history is severely impacted.

You can't do anything in this country with bad credit from renting an apartment, to buying a car plus getting a federal job you really need good credit.

Just finished paying over $5000 in Credit Card Debt to Citi Bank, Capital One Bank & Discover Bank.

I was paying only the minimum payment every month & came to realise those banks were actually playing me.

I was paying almost $200 in Credit Card Interest every month.

No wonder the only want you to pay the minimum payment which is only $25/month so in the long run they make more money out of you.

School fee is 15k in a year but I found one scholarship which will offer instate tuition. Although I have applied for that but no offer yet. Living expenses is 16k in a year according to I-20

I got a loan of 16k for first year and 35k in reserve for second year with 10.65 APR... Course is Electrical Engineering at top 3 university in Florida. Na true say Nigerians day fear Loan oooo because ever since I got approved for that loan, I don carry calculator+Google even with Almighty Formula. I never borrow 20k naira for my life.

Although I have decided I will be attending already. The school is ranked 11th in the world for US patent so they have a strong alumni and job prospect...

That's the back door expedited process. Don't argue.

Note all: As was said today, expedited requires a flight ticket or itinerary and a $60 money order.
It takes 1 week.

I know too much math and have too much sense to rack up credit card debts unnecessarily.
Loan for school fees is an investment in my future, credit card to buy non longterm life investments no make sense.

Your prospects look good though no one can predict anything..

You'll spend less than what's quoted as living cost.
Try to get as much scholarships as you can, even $1k free money per semester changes a lot.

Electrical is verrry good. Dive head on, Fear nothing.

No time...
If you ask questions at the consulate, they'll charge at you like a wounded bull.

Even security asks questions as answer when you ask him anything - I fear for my head.

Example:
9am passes and there was no show (they didn't open till 9.30)
Guy: when does the consulate open for business?
Security: Don't you have a phone? Can't you check the internet? cheesy

Note: keywords - Atlanta passport renewal. Nigerian consulate Atlanta. Renew Nigerian passport in Atlanta. Renew Nigerian passport in USA. Atlanta consulate.

Take train inside the airport to Concourse T, it leads to the rental vehicles area.
Walk towards baggage claim/ground transport and you'll see the rental vehicle sign which you follow.

You'll walk out the airport to take the skyTrain and stop at Rental vehicles station.
Free SkyTrains all the way - Google map is not updated, doesn't give a clear explanation.

Take 2 passports, they only need 1 but the day they change requirements you will not see it anywhere and they'll frustatre you.

Photocopy of your passport data page.

I took a backup of all paperwork incase they wanna be funny.

A priority return envelope from USPS. Addressed FROM them TO You.

Ladies, please cut your curved and long nail extensions . Your finger won't fit into the fingerprint biometric scanner.
If you get them pissed, they'll delay you.
