*DISBANDMENT OF OSUN ELECTION PETITION TRIBUNAL IS AN ATTEMPT TO COMMIT A SECOND ROBBERY AGAINST US -PDP*

The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has described the disbandment of the Osun state Governorship Election petition tribunal as an attempt to commit a second robbery against the people of Osun State.

The Party's position is contained in a Press statement issued by the State Chairman, Hon Soji Adagunodo and made available to newsmen in Osogbo.


The party's statement reads "We receive with shock and utter disappointment the news of the disbandment of the Election petition tribunal constituted to hear the petition arising from the conduct of the last governorship election in Osun state.

The disbandment of the tribunal barely 24 hours after the submission of the petition by the Governorship candidate of the PDP, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke poses serious threat to the free and fair administration of justice in the hearing of the petition.

The Peoples Democratic Party is concerned that the All Progressive Congress and indeed the Federal Government appears to be breathing down on the top echelon of the judiciary to constitute a new panel which will be pliable and thus compromise the integrity of the tribunal as a means to manipulating the outcome of the judicial process in favour of the APC.

We equally have it on good authority that the disbandment of the Osun State Governorship Election petition tribunal is one of the devices the APC plans to use to delay the commencement of hearing of our petition with a hope that the constitutionally prescribed trial period of hearing would not be met.

The PDP regards this as a continuation of the desperate antics of the APC to frustrate the genuine desire of the good people of Osun State to be governed by a lawfully elected Governor whose mandate was brazenly stolen on the 22nd of September, 2018.

We are by this notice calling the attention of the general public, the Nigerian Bar, Civil Society organisations, the International community especially the US, UK and EUROPEAN UNION to this development regarding the hearing of the Osun State Governorship Election petition which ought to commence now.

We do earnestly hope that Nigerians of good conscience will rise up in defence of the country's democracy and speak out against this attempt to muzzle the judiciary which is supposed to be the last hope of the ordinary citizen.

Our party shudders at the thought of the dire consequences which an attempt to compromise the judiciary will have on the peace and security of Osun State in particular and Nigeria in general.

We are thus compelled to passionately appeal to the Chief Justice of the Federation as the head of the Nigerian judiciary to pay closer attention to the constitution and general conduct of the Governorship Election petition tribunal in Osun State and save our democracy from an avoidable mishap which may result from any form of manipulation of the judicial process to favour the ruling party.

If you have CTC of the primary evidences, disbandment of tribunal is of little or no consequence. You have also filed.so let constitute another . worse scenario the tribunal will sit everyday to beat the timeline. If they are actually delaying this process, they are shooting theselves on their foot.

Must you wail over everything? Do you think others are like you? These were the things you use to do in those days. Even the vicious critics of this administration know that this administration does not interfere with the activities of the judiciary. If ot does, Saraki wouldn't have been where he is now, and the list is endless of cases the judiciary has shown they are independent unlike in the evil days of your reign.

The judiciary can answer this question as far as I know, this is the first time a Judiciary is truly independent in this country.

APC is bitting more than they can chew. By the standard APC has been setting since it came to power, if PDP gets back to power, I can see them paying APC back and making sure they never win any election in Nigeria again and are totally destroyed.

OUR LEGAL JOURNEY TO RETRIEVE THE STOLEN MANDATE IN OSUN-
GREEN REVOLUTION

The Legal battle actually started last week.

ROUND 1....
when a Jittery APC raised objections against our legitimate right to obtain certified copies of election results and ballots from INEC, disrupting activities and bullying INEC leadership. They wasted 5 days out of our requisite 21Days needed to file at the Tribunal. We also heard reports of possible connivance by some INEC officials to alter results.

We immediately approached the tribunal to obtain orders compelling INEC not to tamper with the results and also to provide the documents without further delay.

ROUND 2..
APC rushed to the Tribunal to copy our order and join us in their document obtaining process. With the order INEC proceeded to release the documents in batches with both APC and PDP inspecting and photocopying together, to frustrate our efforts... APC brought very tiny photocopiers that slowed the entire process down,
PDP will process and finish with a LGA within 1hour, APC will take additional hours to produce the same documents owing to their inferior equipment. While PDP went prepared to INEC with 5 Xerox wide format industrial copiers that can handle up to A0 paper sizes , APC went with 2 table top photocopiers that can handle only A3 and A4 sizes.

The joint exercise was thus delayed and we didnt have a choice but to start assisting them expensive wide format copies so we can move forward.

ROUND 3 ...
The decision to be making extra copies for APC was being taken for granted despite the exorbitant cost of N850/per page done for APC, they nonetheless still were wasting time and delaying the process unduly. Their main Aim is frustrate our document gathering efforts thereby frustrating our ability to support our Petition to the Tribunal with evidence. They insisted we could only work from 9am to 4pm with a 1 hour lunch break. While on Friday closes at 2pm.

We went back to the Tribunal to specifically ask for:
1. Working hours of 8am to
6pm.
2. Working days Monday to
Saturday.
3. Independent examination
and copying.
4. Approval to commence
Forensic examination of
Ballots by our Phorensics
expert led by a Professor
of Phorensics who flew in
with a team of 5 experts.
Plus 5 other Prayers.

The Tribunal granted ALL 9 Prayers and we succeeded in taming the menace of APC Attack Dogs dressed as lawyers sent to INEC to frustrate us!

We have made considerable progress and will be filling our substantive WATER TIGHT, VICTORY DESTINED PETITON to retrieve our MANDATE....

Let the good people of Osun be encouraged that we are taking all necessary steps to retrieve the mandate they so willingly and lovingly gave PDP's Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke.

I don't understand you. As much as I am a PDP apologist I will always want. APC to remain strong. Nations are better of with a strong political system, and political systems are strong when at least 2 strong parties exist.

Do you ever think of the future. Let's even say that buhari and all other APC leaders are excellent in performance but destroy opposition, what if tmrw terrible men hijack the party structure how would they be removed?

Please, while we support those we wish to support, anyone who wishes the best for the future of this country and the humans in it should not support the annihilation of opposition in a democracy.

What on Earth will Gboyega Oyetola and APC call the sinful crime of a fresh Tribunal panel that was barely set up before it was disbanded? It is like divorcing a Wife on the wedding night. Demola Adeleke won the September election and then he was rigged by APC Federal Power as confirmed in a televised interview of the APC National Chairman on Channels television, instead of throwing the State into chaos, the denied Winner opted for civil legal redress and in affront to the rule of law, the innocent Tribunal was disbanded for no reason. The attention of the world is hereby called to this desperation of the foisted leadership. If Gboyega Oyetola likes he can lobby that Bola Tinubu be made the Chairman of this tribunal, the APC must fail and it will fail because the PDP petition is clear. This shall be the quickest Tribunal in the annals of history of our Judiciary. Whoever carries a dead Partridge or Bush Fowl carries trouble. We urge the Judiciary to stand tall and rise above this precarious interference of electoral Thieves masquerading as God on Earth in Osun State by restoring the legitimate Tribunal panel and allow the case to run on its merit. Democracy and the Rule of Law must compulsorily survive..

They would however need competent lawyers and upright judges to reclaim their stolen mandate.
