Please if I may ask..... During the C-section operation, will the fibroid be removed during that process or only the baby will be removed?

It all depends on your doctor. You might be glad to know that most times, the decision your doctor makes is widely dependent on his training. Most old doctors (who were trained a long time ago) tend to prefer some procedures even when there are more recent and better methods. This is them doing what they're most comfortable with.

THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTion:

It's possible for a doctor to remove fibroid during a C-section. In fact, it's often really tempting(you can imagine), however, it's not safe, and usually not done. So it's most likely that only the baby will be reduced.

Here are two reasons why it is unsafe:

1. During pregnancy, the uterus becomes very vascular, thus increasing the risk of over bleeding.

2. Fibroids usually grow larger during pregnancy, partly due to pregnancy hormones. Thus, there's a higher chance that a complication might occur.

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks for asking.

Good article
Definitely creates awareness.

The incidence rates are much higher than that quoted for GD, PET/Eclampsia and miscarriages..

Our poor record keeping has not helped identify true incidence/prevalence as most maternal deaths are unexplained... "village people"

So folks these conditions are more common than expected, more so in our population.

Prevention is key, having a good and regular antenatal care is imperative, a necessity not a luxury

Kudos once again to Op!!

My wife was alone in the house (I had just traveled) when she measured her BP and it was off the charts. She was just about nine months pregnant.

I was on the road to Abuja when the SMS came in. She went to our famiy physician who told her to go to the hospital. She was placed on admission and had the C-section the next day, while I was in a meeting hundreds of kilometers away. Mother and child were not doing too well; he came out jaundiced, she was managing hypertension.

Fast forward almost ten years and another son later, I look back at the turmoil and know that had she not measured her BP at that moment, she could've collapsed and been history with the baby! I thank God that didn't happen.

Preeclampsia is something else o.

Thank God for his mercies.my story is quite similar to your wife's (except the jaundice part).they had to give me an injection cos i could go into seizure any moment according to the doctor.my husband isnt home too.my bundle of inestimable joy is one month old.

Glory be to God. Being aware of ones Blood pressure from time to time is really really important. BP says a lot about ones' overall healthy.

For those who do not know much about BP, you can find info, and even learn how to check your Blood pressure here ===> https://www.healthfixhub.com/2018/09/21/how-to-measure-blood-pressure-at-home/

We should always pay close attention to our bodies, they often warn us against impending problems to come.

I Understand where you're coming from, and I see reasons with you. However, ignorance isn't always a good excuse, and ignoring a fire never puts it out. Awarness is key, and a good one at that.

There are a good number of issues that can be easily avoided, but shying away from certain facts, and keeping to one's self often leads to more serious complications.

For instance, if one had an infection (say 5 years ago) got it "cured" by taking a self-prescribed OTC drug, there's possibility that a pregnancy complications could arise later during delivery. Very few people know things like this. Insightful posts like this help save people from making costly mistakes and over looking certain things.

Meanwhile, more insightful contents on how to best prevent some preventables will follow.

I didn't say for every couple that experience miscarriage go through breakup. Miscarriage mostly affects the woman psychologically. And as for the effects it has on women who came across this post I don't think HealthFixHub meant to hurt anyone, it should be read with an open mind. I've learnt a lot from reading this, I'm not married yet but I know a lot of married friends who this article will help and it will help me to when I get married after all when a woman is pregnant I think it's the duty of both man and woman to monitor the pregnancy. Have a good night rest smiley

I thank God for your life.i can only imagine what you went through.its not easy, though in my case immediately after the CS my blood pressure dropped to a very good normal and it has been normal since then.so the doctor said my high BP was pregnancy induced.lol@not wanting another baby.im sure in a few years time you ll decide to take the risk again. We can only pray for a better experience next time.
