How can you not stay alone for 1 week when you are not a woman.

Hmmm....guess family was everything to him but relocating abroad was everything to the wife....she would be explaining to the kids for yearsss hoping they don't blame her for his death.

This is not about wife and children working. This is about wife and children discarding and leaving him at that age to starting living on his own. Most Africans can't cope with loneliness, it runs contrary to our culture and practices.

Its not true ,nobody is immune to depression regardless of gender

At the lectures age,depression is real if he does not have a supportive family around him.And who knows he could be experiencing blackmail from someone also.

There may be more to dis than it appears. Somebody could have poison him and drop the note. May his soul rest in peace.

Frank Onyezili, a Professor of Biochemistry at the Biological Sciences Department in the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi (FUAM), has committed suicide.

Onyezili took his own life, last week Friday, by drinking poison and leaving behind a suicide note.

It was gathered that his decision to commit suicide might not be unconnected with depression and loneliness after wife and children left him and moved out of the country.

Marriage is just a formality being married is the key.
I know a man who comes home once a year and spends about two weeks before leaving again.
He is married but living a bachelor's life. By the time the kids are grown, they will have no use
for him and will probably dump him.

No children raised together in love will abandon one parent for the other.
Even wife won't abandon a loving husband because of old age.

The lesson in this is that if a "married" man could be dumped, the baby daddies have no chance
at happiness in their old age.

no mind them. People will just be talking nonsense, thinking they understand depression. To really describe it, this your illustration doesn't even represent up to 5% of the mental torture of people suffering from depression.

I have read all comments and ascertained that no one here knows what depression really means. A state where u careless about your existence. Depression is deadly and can cause someone no matter how educated nor exposed to commit suicide. Always have someone you share your problems with. RIP Sir!

He might have lost the love and trust his children had for him. Perhaps his wife has told the children several negative things about their father which made them evade the country entirely. This thought lead to depression and loneliness and the final straw(suicide).

life requires a relatively balance of all things to make it worth living. money can't buy companionship. it is stupidity of the wife and children to abandoned him alone in this country for whatever benefit is there outside the country.

Yes sure. Remember we are all designed differently, he might see it as a sin thanks to what he must have been told by say his cleric or something. They might have been having issues but he might have seen divorce as a sin too.
