You have seen bridges, but in this post, we are going to list 5 Amazing Pedestrian Bridges and Footbridges (in no particular order) with amazing designs, and solid engineering costing millions of Dollars.

5. Lucky Knot bridge in Changsha, China:
A bridge doesn’t need to include the standard, gray concrete beams, cables, and deck. They can twist and turn and pop with color.
That’s the philosophy behind the bridge, which was designed by Next Architects.
The Lucky Knot stretches over a highway and the Dragon King Harbor River, sitting 78 feet above the river so boats can travel beneath it. The 600-foot bridge is actually three separate bridges intertwined into one.
Pedestrians can access it from eight street entrances.
The three walkways overlap at five points, which Schreimachers calls “moon gates.”The bridge’s design mimics that of roller coaster tracks.

4. London’s nine elm bridge:
Built across River Thames, London. Working with Robin Snell & Partners, Sven Ole Hansen ApS, Aarsleff and ÅF Lighting on the design, Bystrup’s über-minimal bridge is made up of a thin deck and swirling ramps suspended from two tapered shafts with gilded tops.
The simple design is meant to minimize the footprint of the bridge on the north and south sides of the Thames, in part to address opponents of the project. bridge connects the historic Pimlico district in Westminster on the north with the primarily industrial, yet developing Nine Elms area to the south. Even with £26million and the support of the Mayor of London, the bridge has strong opposition from residents of Pimlico, who see the bridge as a means of benefiting developers in Nine Elms, which is underwent a massive redevelopment.

3. Circular bridge Shanghai China
Constructed some time in 2011, the circular pedestrian bridge in Lujiazui, Pudong District of Shanghai blends an aesthetically pleasing design with environmental necessity.
Essentially saving many Shanghaians the toil of traffic and turnabouts, the infrastructure literally bridges the gap between work and play, as it connects users easily with office buildings, cafes and restaurants. This design comes as part of China’s latest wave of environmentally-charged innovation, market-based adaptation and CO2 emission reduction, some of which has been rewarded by the World Wildlife Federation as some of the best efforts to combat climate change.

2. Webb Bridge, Melbourne, Australia
This pedestrian/cycle bridge crossing the river Yarra within Melbourne Docklands, the scheme is not only a practical solution to the physical site, conditions and program requirements, but also demonstrates the Docklands Authority commitment to art and innovative architecture in the development of the precinct. As such, the project addresses aesthetic, historical and symbolic issues as integral components of its design.
Webb Bridge won the prestigious RAIA Joseph Reed Urban Design Award 2005 and commendation for Urban Design in the National Awards.

1. Chunhua Footbridge, China.
Chunhua Footbridge circles the intersection of Shennan and Nanshan Avenues in Shenzhen, China. Built at a cost of 50 million yuan ($7.8 million), the footbridge is 14 meters wide, 130 meters long, and has 13 elevators. Its name, Chunhua, aptly translates to “spring flower” in English.

For this to be replicated in one of the countries in Africa that I know, a committee will be appointed to go on a working visit while another committee will have to assess their findings.
