Hello Nairalanders, sometime ago I created a thread asking where I can learn programming at Edo/Delta state.
Some Nairalanders reached out to me via phone and text messages and suggested some places and self learning platforms to me.

I've been learning on udemy, with YouTube videos and some PDF files since then.

In an attempt to improve my skill set, I have decided to work on a fun project this holiday period. I've almost two months to spend so learning by doing wouldn't be a bad idea.

I've thought of so many problems I could solve with my fun project but couldn't decide on any until yesterday.

A Little Story:

I visited a friend yesterday at a remote village here in Edo State and while we were brainstorming and making research online, my data bundle got exhausted. I didn't come with the phone that has my bank apps for security reasons(Sarz on the beat kinda stuff).

The time was already 10pm and all the stores selling recharge cards have closed and their owners have retired for the night.

Back home at Auchi, I had pack recharge cards that I normally buy for emergency cases like this.

So I was out of airtime in a far away remote village while I had almost 2k+ worth of airtime in my hostel room at Auchi.

My programming instinct kicked in and I imagined having a secret and secure app where I can store recharge cards with loose change for emergency cases like this.

I normally buy an extra recharge card anytime I'm recharging my phone and I store them in a jar in case I need to quickly send airtime to my younger ones or to recharge my phone when I'm too lazy to go out and buy a bigger amount.

So the idea is to create a personal and secure airtime storage app which I will call my Airtime Stash for storing those extra airtime digitally and securely.

I've started working on it already using Sketchware IDE, a mobile app that allows developers to develop android apps on the go.(My laptop crashed last week so the only alternative is sketchware IDE)

Below are screenshots of the app under development and testing.

I would update this page as I progress

I would use an if else statement to determine the network here and the corresponding image would load

The images are not uploading. I'd try and look for an alternative

Won't be organized as I want it to plus a notepad app doesn't have an online database in the event that I loose my phone.
Anybody can access the notepad app

or snap them and store the pictures in a vault either online of offline.

I would've said you shouldn't reinvent the wheel, but since you're just starting, don't stop. What you're currently working on may turn out useless but it may inspire you to something better.

It's a great start... It's fun to think of an idea and see it come to life.

If you're still in Auchi, I would like us to meet. Kudos.

Let me add to you ....
You could integrate a function that let's users share airtime pins to each other in-app or via SMS. As you progress, the app may get social media integration so that it could be used as a reward system for games and completed tasks........ great app you're building, just look wider and deeper.
