I think the Nigerian factor contributed.May be if this government is out of power they will come back

What has this govt got to do with TSTV? This Govt supported them, gave them tax breaks and all. DSTV sued them in ALL Nigerian states and FCT. Just to ensure the owner of TSTV do not have the time to run the business. You want to compete against the owner of a business with pirated signals and you were making so much noise! There are such companies quietly doing such business all over the country. It was the noise that got the attention of DSTV and they ensured TSTV died naturally

With some of the comments I'm reading here, I'm deeply saddened that a majority of Nigerian youths are slaves to the existing system. We see a business that will be beneficial to us all, especially considering the high cost of paid subscription by Dstv, and we're mocking them. The truth is that Dstv is very influential and it has frustrated tstv because its a threat to Dstv's dominance in the Nigerian market. I hope they come through unscathed from this battle they are fighting. I wish them all the best.

They were trying to sell pirated contents. Which is illegal. Simple

I feel they didn't do their home work well.
If u have to come big, come clean and at the right time.

They should have waited till DSTv sole right for EPL exhausted then they pay big to get the right just like HiTV did in 2010.
Option B
Start with news, movies and sports other than EPL (FA, Seria A, Europa Laliga)

Do you honestly think Kwese is keeping up with DSTV or isn't it just hanging on like the last days of HiTV?

Kwese TV is available in other parts of Africa besides the business model is slightly different. Strive wants people to be able to watch programmes on their phones. HITV was a business model gone bad. Strive has a track record of success. What does TSTV have?

The real question is what happened to Buhari's promises while campaigning? Why are people not asking pertinent questions?
This thread is different. Questions that borders on Buhari's promises are in other threads. Nigerians and their intelligent-than-thou attitude. Rubbish.

With no evidence to support your claim, how is it the truth? How come DSTV is not doing what you opined against Kwese TV?

How come same is not happening to Kwese TV? TSTV was a fraud and like any fraudulent concept, it would crumble.
Did TSTV fraud you? Steve Masiyiwa of Kwese Tv is an old war horse in Business, and you can expect him to succeed with kwese TV which is not his first business venture. He knows the ropes. Steve Masiyiwa, failed many times in his earlier venture into Business. I cannot forget his popular fight with the zimbabwan govt. So young man, you are just ignorant and have not learned that the path to every successful business at first is very painful

As usual, argumentum ad hominem.

Is that why TSTV aired channels they are not authorised to show?

Did TSTV paid for those premium channels they have? Are they authorised to show the channels? But they intended to show all those channels without paying or discussing with the owners.
Is that not a fraud?

Who told you they did not pay? They bought from the right given to North and East Africa, but DSTV insisted that only west african rights will be shown in west africa. While North and east africa are free with their rights and sell to others, DSTV held down west african rights and monopolized it. Nice business strategy by them though

They're getting a lesson on neo-colonialism. There are corporations in and outside Nigeria who don't want the type of vision the company has; such as providing internet and TV at the same time. Such an idea, if successful would shutdown other satellite TVs.

We are not yet a completely free continent. We are still being colonized, unfortunately, we're the ones doing the job for them.

Another case of "it's never my fault, someone else is responsible".

Yes, after more than half a century, the white man is responsible for the black's man woes. The Chinese man told Fashola to utter to constituents that they should vote for Buhari so that they can produce the president in 2023. Not because Buhari's policies are feasible or provident, but because "my people must continue afterwards". It's the white man's fault.

After half a century, folks keep blaming someone else for their ineptitude.

Those are business variations. If i was in DSTV shoes, i would probably have done same. But what i will not tolerate from you is accusing TSTV of fraud because the owner is Igbo and you hate Igbos.

So because I questioned the company's profile and practices, it means I hate Igbos? shocked Can you show me where I criticise the firm's owner because of his ethnic group? Will Igbos be the only subscribers of TSTV IF it succeeds? What makes you think I'm not Igbo, huh? Seriously, what's my business with where the owner comes from? I'm short of words. But it's pathetic that you accuse me of tribalism because I questioned the business practices of a firm.

The problem is more insidious than you can ever imagine. The depency will continue because we are still connected to the slave masters via their language, education, religion. The system then create elites like Fashola who keeps it going. When you understand what's going on you'll understand that China is just the new kid on the block carrying the flag in our continued colonialism.

The system will keep going on forever until we shut it down with our own language, education, religion.

So how come same didn't or has not happened to South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Botswana and even Rwanda? Mind you, the Asian nations listed face similar and even more arduous challenges than Africans ditto situations. These same nations have their cultures mixed with other cultures. Singaporeans started speaking English during the '70s, how did it stop them from developing? South Korea has one of the largest percentage of Christians in Asia bar Philippines, how has it stopped them from advancing? What about Japan whose culture has infusions from the Confucian ideals (originated from China)? Or do you imply, most likely erroneously, that the African culture is anti-development? If so, what about Botswana and Rwanda?

So because you don't speak your native language or profess your indigenous religion, that means you should not develop your place? Honestly, it sounds ludicrous to me. grin

It doesn't change the fact that money which TSTV should have used to purchase the rights to air EPL legally was wasted on sending you to school. If you can reason to the point of falsely accusing one of tribalism due to a fraudulent business practice by a firm, then it's a pity.

Bro, if you do your research, you'll discover those Asian countries developed for the exact reasons I provided. The only country that deserves a mention is Singapore, which developed for reasons being it's small population- 5 million only. Victoria Island or Banana Island or Ikoyi could be equated to that in development.

Botswana is one African country where education happens in native language uptill secondary school.... I think up to university in their native language. You can now see why.
