Tinubu builds influence and use it to get most of what he wants.
He listen to his people and make concessions.
He doesn't grab all seats in Lagos.
That's why Obanikoro's son won a seat to House of Representatives.

That's why he supported Hamzat(a Fashola boy and member of Justice Forum) for deputy governor.


That's why he allowed Ganiyu Solomon to have his way in his area.

That's was why he allowed Amosun to be the candidate in 2011 because he was the choice of the people then.


That's was why he supported Fashola for second term despite their differences.

Tinubu is not a dictator.. He has influence and uses it to maximum satisfaction. Where he loses, he moves on and restrategize. If in doubt, ask Akeredolu who was blabbing after winning the Governorship in Ondo because of Oyegun's mischievousness.
Now he is feeling the heat.

You better go and search your soul with the dimming torchlight and see if you can be a better politician than Tinubu.

Don't kill yourself because of somebody whose dog can boast of a better living standard.

Both are politicians to start with.

However, Tinubu is different from Amosun in this particular instance cos Tinubu sacrificed his senatorial seat for GOS in 2003 whereas Amosun is still insisting on going back to the Senate in 2019 denying Tejuoso who has helped the party in the Senate and refused to decamp.

Also, Time & Chance is very important in life, Amosun failed to realize this and went on air to reel out list of candidates without (either direct or indirect) primaries against INEC & party directive. INEC wouldn't have accepted the candidates after all.

Then the issue of zoning (thou not written) is a major factor, words on the street is that there are 2 divisions in Ogun State - Egba & Ijebu. These 2 divisions rotate the gov seat (from ijebu's Onabanjo to egba's Osoba, ijebu/remo's Daniel to egba's Amosun); so power should go back to ijebu not Egba/yewa Amosun is springing up. The marginalization of yewa should be corrected by egba when it is their turn in another 8yrs.

Also, Amosun was imposed by Tinubu on other party stakeholders & candidates 8yrs ago in same manner. In 2011 when the merger btw ACN & CPC failed, Tinubu imposed Amosun against Osoba's chioce thou Amosun wasn't in ACN but in CPC with Buhari. The other contestants like Obadara, Soyinka etc cried blue murder but Tinubu insisted knowing only Amosun could give PDP a good fight. Luckily PDP had serious internal issues (Daniels, Buruji factions).
Forward to 2015, Amosun wrote all the candidates list for 2015 from Senate to HoR to minister to everything without consulting other party stakeholders including the VP, using his closeness to Buhari & presidency. 2019 is different, Osoba & his supporters are back in the party and must have input.

Luckily for APC, the main opposition is in disarray too. So they all know the battle for Oke-Mosan is inside the party.

Meanwhile, Ogun State has always been like this, remember Daniels wasn't allowed to choose his party's candidate hence he decamped to PPN.


P:S. I don't support either parties or camp or Tinubu but just to provide some clarifications.

I quite appreciate your position (coincidentally that was my thought too until I was made to see otherwise).

The Constitution expressly dictates 3 senatorial district for every state of Nigeria, recall I stated Divisions not senatorial districts and only 2 exists in old Ogun. Senatorial district were drawn up mostly by geography.

Moreso, the Remo are not Ijebu or are quick to say they are not ijebu but ijebu supported them to get the position thru OGD.

Another question is why was egba allowed to have 2 shots at Oke-Mosan (Osoba & Amosun) without any for yewa if yewa is a bloc.

In all, Amosun didn't handle the situation well by unilaterally picking candidates without input from stakeholders. Now, he is not willing to relinquish any position. The other faction has conceded positions to his faction - 2 Senate & 7 HoR - but he is not willing to concede any, just like Okorocha.
