You keep repeating this sh!t and it's not true.

My parents usually have this social gathering where my tribesmen meet once every month. Nobody and I mean nobody dares speak any language that is not urhobo otherwise that person incures a fine.

In my village and in most towns and cities occupied by urhobos, urhobo remains the first language that is predominantly spoken. I personally am not very fluent at my language and that is because I didn't grow up among my people. And whenever I meet relatives they laugh and mock me for not being fluent at my language.

That is the situation of things.

Who cares about your rubbish and ESUT nonsense?
Anambra has minimal pidgin English, unless you are a Hausa or Yoruba (with visible tribal marks), the first language you will receive anywhere in Anambra is Igbo. This does not mean they are not fluent in pidgin English.

All other nonsense you wrote is empty rants from someone writing with he has no clue.
ahahaha Ur case get as E B,I nor fit help U>Pidgin U no understand, English too U still nor fit comprehend mayB I need speak Igbo!

Hey Miss, you need some chill pills, strop trolling already. In the South, pidgin is our Lingua Franca. I see many guys trying to put you through and make you understand, but you are bent on arguing blindly. You just too shallow minded and daft!

You know how many foreign girls love me because of my pidgin, you know how South African girls would always want me to teach them pidgin? Hey! I'm pidgin; I'm proudly Naija.

Jamaica is popular today because of her distinct form of English called Patois.... Pidgin can also put Nigeria on the map some day. From your comment, I could tell you know nothing about the World and its people.

pidgin isn't good!

It destroys your proficiency in English. Should be utilized while typing? ... pretty cool

Spoken? should not be used at all unless you've run out of options.

Am a victim.
I unconsciously code switch to pidgin while speaking in a official meeting which is becoming embarrassing.

[quote author=fratermathy post=69548469]Akwa Ibom nor follow at all for this matter. Na only Ibibio and good English dem dey yarn here. Dey nor sabi catapult pidgin at all. Even the small ones wey open eye for the matter sef nor sabi am wella. Their pidgin dey sound like good English mixed with Ibibio.

As for Anambra, na Igbo dey reign for there. Pidgin nor too follow. Na only for Onitsha dem dey speak small pidgin based on Asaba influence and based on say strangers boku for there. So Onitsha nor too follow up. Even Asaba sef, na Waffarians dey spoil that town. Normally, na Igbo dem dey yarn but Waffi boys don change am follow them. Some Asaba people don even get Warri tongue now sef.

For Bayelsa matter ehn, Yenagoa na correct pidgin area. The people wey get the town na Epie/Atissa dem dey speak normally but Izon people and Ogbia people plenty for the cabal so na pidgin naim dem take dey control their matters for there.

As for Cross River, na Ogoja/Ikom/Obudu people get am. Their langua for there na konk one. Nor play o. If original Ikom man yarn pidgin for you, your head go roll like ludo seed.

Highest pidgin sha na Warri. Area! [/quote

Scome! You say Akwa Ibom no sabi wetin?

U should know when to switch off,English people speak broken English on a daily basis, they only speak what we call Proper in a formal conversation or setting. The ones who are properly Educated and come from well educated homes speak posh English full of grammer.

Nice one! OP

However, the list should have been in cities/towns not state. After Lagos and Abuja, the remaining eight should be Niger/Delta states lol. In the east, they ONLY speak pidgin to you if you are not a local and the pidgin is heavily accented. However in Niger Delta, pidgin is our official language o we have no choice if not we won’t be able to communicate, in ONE state alone, there are a million languages unlike other regions where they only have to worry about dialects/accent. Infact, they are even united with one language across multiple states.

Young man.. You are intelligent. The girl 1sharon girl the provoke me with her comments. She doesn't even know the etymology and evolution of the world major languages. I grew up in a pidgin speaking home, I know my language and will outshine her in English. Because I know the rules of Grammar. Be it prescriptive or descriptive grammar, I've got the English syntax on my finger tips. Yet, I'm a proud speaker of Pidgin.

Thanks Bross. She just doesn't get it. I too grew up in a pidgin Home typical lower middle Class Yenagoa family. I know it's bad but me and my siblings no sabi speak Epie or Engenne or even Izon Bayelsa languages. But I see it as a sacrifice we have to make to stop all this Tribalism and builed this great Nation of ours and my dear Bayelsa and Nigerdelta.

Pidgin ain't a proper language mate

Do you know that Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese etc evolved as Pidgin languages of Latin?
Today these languages are standard official world languages, while Latin has has become obsolete?

So many official languages of various countries today evolved as Pidgin languages. Then later become Creoles.

I also know a few ppl from the same ethnic group in delta and they still choose to speak pidgin over their language. So all you all you wrote are excuses and you are being dishonest

People from the same non hausa ethnic groups in the north still choose to speak Hausa to themselves sometimes because it has become the lingua franca over there and many are already abandoning their languages.
As long as you are from a smaller ethnic group, it is difficult to retain your language due to the smaller geographic spread of your language.
The average yoruba person in Ibadan meets mostly yoruba people on a daily basis, compared to the average Urhobo person in Warri, Ughelli or even Sapele who meets with people of many different ethnic groups on a daily basis.
