I'm awaiting results. My spoken French is really bad but I went ahead with it anyway.

Speaking: part 1, I was asked to call a ski holiday company and ask a couple of questions about an ad.
For part 2, I was asked to convince my friend to use a service that provides electric cars.

I had 15 minutes to prepare. Part 1 went by so fast. Didn't notice due to nerves. I was still asking my questions when the examiner told me time was up and he stopped the tape. There was no prep time for part2, we just jumped right into it. The examiner was tough. Practically refused every single proposition I made but I hung in there and kept probing in my terrible French until time was up.

Writing: part 1: the headline was something about a bank's bullion van having an accident causing money to fall off a bridge like rain...wrote what I could.
Part 2: we were asked to write for or against social media causing more distance between people than it connects.

Listening: LOL. Oh boi...ka sha maa dupe. Some parts were simple especially the beginning. Then later it was like I was hearing Ibo.

Reading: sharply did the first and last 10 questions.

Hopefully this helps someone.

You're right. I saw this Dec 5 date on the CIEP website. I contacted AF PH this morning and they say they offer TCF Canada for 110k....in other news, TEF Canada for the next available session in February has gone up to 110k as well.

Hmmmm...... Okayyy.... Anyhow still 10k cheaper than their Lagos office. smiley

How was your speaking result?

Bonjour all,

Flowing the thread and I would like to add that French is a culture. Embracing it somewhat boosts your performance overall.
ALliance Francaise is the best place to learn to prepare.
Make it a habit of constantly listening to French on a daily basis before you write your exams. It puts your mind in the ‘french Mode’ and will definitely boost your speaking and listening scores.
Find someone to converse with daily. There are a lot of people around us who are francophones, finding them might be challenging but not impossible. This is a great help.

There is the RFI radio app you can download on your phone/tab to use for your listening exercises. Also DSTV has the French channels bouquet you can also take advantage of.

Immersing yourself in everything French I believe should add significantly to your overall scores.

I’m yet to write the test but I’m preparing.

Good luck!

Tldr; I'm also awaiting results o. I took the Oct 10 exam at Port Harcourt.

I didn't really think I was ready for the exam but as I hadn't taken any french exam since secondary school and AF Lagos was dulling me with their Nov date, I decided to just do it. Bad as e bad I'll rewrite it in Lagos if I don't get the desired scores. Here is my experience:

Speaking: for part 1, I was shown an ad describing a park (like an amusement park or something...can't remember exactly) and was asked to call for more information and for part 2, I was shown another ad for a service that rents electric cars (same as @Bellerin's apparently) to convince a friend to use it.

I was given 15 mins to prepare for both parts. For the first part, I feel I asked a reasonable number of questions and the examiner seemed to understand me (even though I think they were both extremely lenient). For the second part, the examiner had lots of objections but I just kept giving reasons to convince her. I repeated a lot of statements but oh well...on verra.

I honestly can't rate my french because yours truly was on auto-pilot...told myself before going in that as long as I don't freeze I'd be ok...I even started speaking English towards the end of the second part though I corrected myself.
Before the exam this was the section I dreaded the most but it went by easier than expected...I SPOKE AND UNDERSTOOD FRENCH O!...under exam condition for that matter

Listening: was exactly the same format as the books and the prepmyfuture app...no surprises really except that I found it a bit difficult to concentrate...

Reading: the passages were too difficult...too many strange words...nothing like the passages I came across while practising...When time was up I hadn't even read two of the passages...I was able to answer all other questions though...whether the answers were correct remains to be seen...don't know how people were passing this exam in the era of negative marking

Writing: the article to complete was about an incident with a bouillon van which resulted in a rain of money from a bridge and for the letter the headline was social media creates more distance than it connects...I write as my power reach. When preparing though, I made sure I had the introduction and conclusion of the letter at the tips of my fingers. For the body I just made sure I used the logical connectors ....it's in God's hands now.

Whatever the result, I'm glad I took the exam. If I need to retake it, I'll be better prepared.

The Sept5 AF PH result is finally out! I don't really understand how this TEF stuff work. My friend whom I was asking for finally got enough points to land his CRS to 442. He has updated and hopefully waiting for ITA next WK!

Thanks you all for your help!
I pray that God will also do same for you all.

Is "Learning French" a book or an app? I couldn't find it on Amazon
Bellerin:

I recommend Michel Thomas "Learning French". It will help you get a good grasp very quickly and will boost your confidence. (Start from "Foundation", then go through Advanced, then Language builder, then finally the Vocabulary course) You can finish everything in weeks.

Then I recommend taking a look at www.Frenchpod101.com It has classes from Absolute Beginner to Advanced. They offer everything in their library fo free for 7 days (Tip: download what you can within this period)

There is no curriculum for the TEF well because it only measures your level at the time of testing.

They offer 39k for General French classes on weekends. I heard they offer classes specifically for TEF for 20k. Check out their Facebook page, you'll see phone numbers you can call for further clarification.

I dont know how come they now decided to apply the new fees now. The best is to ace the scores one and for all. Paying 160k and not getting d target is not the best.
