Gunmen attacked a 165 Lodge located at Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo front gate. The attack resulted in serious injury to a 200 Level student of the university’s department of electrical engineering, simply identified as Charles.

Orient Gist gathered that the injury led to the loss of blood by Charles and that he was transferred to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital for medical attention.

According to Gozie Ifeanyi, an eyewitness, “the incident is not the first time AE-FUNAI students are being attacked by gunmen.

“Just last week, an armed robber was apprehended by some students after he missed his shot on a student. The students gave him the beating of his life before handing him over to the security personnel”.

Francis Njoku, the students’ union government president, expressed total displeasure over the incident and assured the affected students that the union would liaise with Nigerian Police and the Community Security Network in the town to ensure that the perpetrators of such heinous crime were brought to book.
