A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward executive for Egwedu-Atta, Njaba LGA of Imo State, Mr Herbert Nwaneji has been brutally murdered and his body dumped around the boundary of Atta and Nkume (both in Njaba LGA).

His family members explained that he received a call on Friday evening and immediately left his house with his bike, but failed to return same night. The obviously worried family members kept trying his line all night but could not reach him only for his dead body to be found in the said location the following morning.

The killer probably SPOOFED his number by calling his line with a familiar telephone number which ultimately deceived him and achieving their nefarious objectives.

Or they cloned the sim card of a familiar number that is well known to him only to use it to deceive him.

If the late man is a randy type that loves women he can easily fall prey as the killer can use a spoof female voice to deceive him.

African politics is played with vengeance and bitterness unlike the politics that is played in the developed democracy of the western world.

Earlier this year a ward chairman in Ughelli, Delta state of one of the major political party in Nigeria was shot in the head in Ughelli, of which he died right on the spot in his pool of blood.

Another political leader in Kiama Bayelsa state was also killed in his Kiama resident earlier this year.

In Ekiti state under ex-governor Ayodele Fayose several political office holders both in Fayose government and the opposition were murdered.

In Kaduna state a king from one of the southern Kaduna community was waylaid by forces loyal to governor El Rufai and killed and his body dump by the roadside after they have collected ransom. Some of the king entourage including police orderly were killed.

The politically instigated killings is spreading to all parts of Nigeria.

It is impacting negatively on our democratic progress in Nigeria with the common man in the street who is seeking for democratic dividend being the victims as they suffer the economic effects of political violence.

Killing a fellow human being for whatever material comfort or gains is a wicked and dastardly act.

These people think they too are stone or rock that will not die but live forever?

May the killer of this Imo state politician never go unpunished either here on earth or at the judgment gate in the world beyond.

May his soul and the souls of other victims of politically instigated killings in Nigeria rest in perfect peace.

May the good lord help to console their immediate families and give them the fortitude to bear this irreparable lose. Amen.
