A pregnant woman and one other passenger have died in a truck accident in Aba after revenue officers reportedly chased a truck, which then ran into the commercial tricycle conveying the passengers.

The Revenue agents were reported to be working for Aba South Local Area Council and had earlier stopped the truck driver who refused before they engaged him in a chase.

According to reports, the pregnant woman and a passenger in the tricycle died on the spot.

It was learnt that several other passengers who were injured in the accident are battling for survival in a government hospital after being rejected by a private hospital because of the degree of injury that they sustained.

The revenue agents in a move to escape the wrath of the people – dived into the Waterside River, luck however was said to have ran out on one of them who was apprehended by some of the onlookers that chased after them.

It was gathered that the timely intervention of a police team prevented the irate crowd from setting him ablaze after giving him the beating of his life.

So sad that Nigeria Police alwys rescue these bastards when they are about joining hell, but can't stop them before their nasty activities, they chased the vehicle to the crushing of an innocent pregnant woman and now rescued from being lynched. All these criminal collection of revenues in Aba and Onitsha how has the funds been used to better the tax payers? Aba is still living on the dustbins , Onitsha is known to have the worst roads and dirty streets. I advocate for jungle justice to these criminals contracted by these useless governments in the South East / South South CRIMINAL governments. RIP to the dead.

Come to Aba, and you will see different uniforms 'enforcing the law', some of us have resorted to taking commercial vehicles to work because of those idiøts. .. Every day new uniforms and non uniforms will come out, and you talk about enforcing the law.

If the revenue officers are genuine legal authorities why would people not stop and listen to them? The driver trying to escape from the law is the cause of this disaster.

This accident could have been averted if the greed in those revenue collectors had allowed the said truck to let go

Come to think of it, how much were they aiming to collect that can be compared to the life of this people that died of untimely and preventable death

i don't understand why private hospitals like selecting patients that they'll attend to.. its not good at all.

...worse still when they are driving heavy duty vehicles. I know that hardship is much in Nigeria, but some risks are simply unjustifiable.
How can you be doing fast and furious driving with a truck? So many insane drivers on Nigerian roads.

Oh my Lord. I knew it will get to this. These boys dont have chill atvall. Last month i went to Aba. The way they were harassing truck drivers at Osisioma junction....one they jumped on the truck and was dragging the steering with the driver and the conductor at the middle of the road. I had a thousand thoughts of possible outcome run through my mind. They...Move, stop, brake, horn, engine, move, blast brake,swerve right stop, Fight....This lasted more than 20munites. They later brought in reinforcements.
This was a truck just passing through a federal highway.
They should be called to order by the Abia State govt and made to face the full wrought of the law.

These guys, weren't on uniform. And they categorically told him that it's the turn of the Ngwa people to chop. What brought about, tribe in this talk, the man couldn't say. He said, some people went to call Army men to help them get bail their car, and the thugs told the Army men that if they get involved, then their bosses in the government house will equally get involved.
Tell, me how do you fight injustices when government has divided us through religious and tribal lines.
I repeat, I don't blame the driver. But, very soon the hunters will become the hunted.

I second you sir. Even though what the thugs are doing is illegal, the driver was wise not to run. The risk is too high as the driver may survive the accident but kill innocent people.
